creeper trail bike rental - shuttle

Gary emailed back and forth and was so so so kind. I wasn't sure I could get down the whole trail. He told me they could come rescue their trike on route if necessary. Gary was super kind to me. Don't start at the bottom and go up, geez. Arrive at the top and bike down! We arrived and there was my trike all ready to go and the skies opened and it poured and turned to ice and we waited around and decided it was too much. I offered to pay for the bike rental anyway and they refused my money. The weather was not their fault and I felt bad that they specially arranged a trike for me. Gary and his sister were ever so kind to this cripple so please be kind to them back.

I've already written a review of our ride on the trail, but also wanted to comment on the shuttle service we used to get to the top of the mountain. We brought our own bikes, but this company has a ton of bikes for rent and if you forget anything - they probably have it at one of their locations. They took great care of our bikes when they were loaded onto the shuttle.

The Virginia Creep Trail begins at Whitetop, VA, runs through Damascus, and ends in Abington. Or you can ride up to Whitetop from Damascus or Abingdon. Riders can rent bikes at any of the locations and all have great shops, but we ALWAYS rent from the Creeper Trail Bike Rental in WHITETOP! The shop is run by Ann and her husband. It's clean, well stocked, and rentals are always well organized. YES, you NEED a reservation so they ensure they have enough bikes to meet demand. Pricing is very affordable and can provide a day's fun and activity for an entire family. Ride the easy 17 miles "down" (1% grade) to Damascus or the easy 28 miles to Abington, but we suggest you "stop at the shop at the top." WHITETOP!
