not much to it overall, however there is some interesting stuff to see. You can be through the entire exhibit in less than an hour.Plan other things to do in Denton if this is your reason for coming.
We were wandering around town square and stumbled upon this little museum. There were some great old fire fighter gear and equipment on display. I even got to try on some old fire fighting gear!
It's very small, but it's free, and there's clean restrooms and water fountains inside. It is located about two blocks east of the downtown square area, so if you are walking around the square and have small children, it's a great place to take them. The museum houses about 100 years' worth of firefighting artifacts, with pictures from all over the area. Many of the items start at the floor and go up, so even the smallest child can easily see the item. If you have children with you, and the firefighters are not busy, they'll let you go into their living quarters and see the fire engines. They'll answer any questions you have about the history of fire fighting in the area. There's a large, floor to ceiling cabinet of miniature toy fire engines which kids will also love.
The museum has a small but very interesting, well-organized, pristine collection of firefighting artifacts! Definitely worth a visit while you're in downtown Denton.
This is just a small little museum, but it is interesting, FREE, and they allowed us to go back and see where the firefighters live and also check out the trucks and emergency vehicles. My kids (6&3) loved it and also got to try on a real uniform. If you have small kids, this place is a very nice stop.
We took our four year old grandson for a visit that included a walk around the square and ice cream. The best part of the visit was visiting with the firefighters who were wonderful with our grandson. He walked away with a great red hat.
I took my young boys there for a quick outing and they really enjoyed themselves. It is a very small museum but going there mixed in with time spent on the square certainly made for a pleasant afternoon.
