As of January 2015, this winery is OPEN! I personally know the owners, Alton and Lana Gates. Go visit this great winery! Alton and Lana are very knowledgeable and superb hosts. They are friendly and go out of their way to make your visit memorable. You can enjoy tasting the many wines they offer (not very expensive). Also, we love to have parties there--cost is around $13 a piece for a LOT of wine tastes!! Cannot beat it! We bring snackies and they have Wine 101 for us, while we are tasting. It is a BLAST! My favorite go-to wine is their Wichita Red. It has won several medals. I also like their Rachel's Rose and Bella's Blush (these wines are named after their granddaughters). Go bring your out-of-town guests, enjoy, and tell them the Peterman's sent ya!
This winery caught me off guard. I did not know that there would be a winery that could last in this hot little town of Wichita Falls. The couple who own the winery have a wonderful story and they are glad to share it with you. They were so polite and welcoming.. I felt like I had a visit with my grandmother. The two wines I tried were so delicious. I also tried their chocolate sauces and they were so simple and tasty. I was so glad I took the drive out there. I will definitely go back when my husbands TDY is over.
Small, family run winery, the woman was very knowledgable about her wines, quite friendly, warm, and a good saleswoman. We ended up buying 2 bottles of their 2003 Cabernet, if you visit try it. It was by far the best wine there. We got a few other things too. Honestly, in such a rural town it's a refined and relaxing experience, a bit of an oasis. So glad we drove out, if you're a wine fan you should certainly visit. It made the trip for me. The backstory of how the place came to be is fascinating so ask. Only thing was we would have loved to tour the vineyards but the husband/owner was doing yard work so he couldn't take us. Other than that, amazing
Had a great time! Owners and staff were very helpful and friendly. Nice gifts and great ideas for Christmas gifts.
Some is OK but most still needs more time in the barel to reach maturity.
I was in town last weekend on leisure and I had a day to wander around, so I stopped in to visit the ladies at Wichita Falls Vineyards and Winery. I popped in unexpectedly and they were very accommodating and friendly. It was extremely interesting to learn about their different wines and to see the process in which they made them. I highly reccommend you visit!
