what a great experience. Kelly gives out a lot of information during the tour. You then get to sample the product in a souvenir shot glass. The vodka, blue agave and rum are all smooth to taste. You can also purchase bottles (2 per person) to take home.

This is a small, family-owned and -operated distillery that has a great tour thru their operation, explaining the distilling process quite clearly. They offer very minute samples of each of their products, giving you a great idea of what they are producing. If you are in the area, it is well worth the stop. Grab some excellent BBQd oysters at Gilhooley's, then stop by Railean Distillers. Their products, Rum and American Agave Spirit, are 100% American-made - no imported ingredients. Railean give a great tour and the rum, vodka, and blue agave she makes are outstanding. It is apparent that she believes in quality.

Kelly, the owner, does a great job of explaining and showing the distilling process! You also get to sample 7 spirits (1 vodka, 4 rum, 2 agave aka tequila) and they all taste great. They also serve up great mixed drinks for very reasonable prices. Check it out!

They offer a tour with tasting and a souvenir shot glass for $5 and a nice drink menu, so you can hang out a while. A new building will be complete soon with a visitor area for sipping and making purchases.

TX law allows individual on site purchase of only 2 bottles per person per visit. You'll want MORE! I've escorted small groups of up to 25, so think of it for a club or special occasion outing. Kelly opened up her place for us during the week, and shared her passion for rum and distilling. We had a great time, enjoyed a tasty cocktail and sampled some excellent rum, vodka, and aguave. We'll definitely be back!

We toured the Railean Distillery with the Waterford Yacht Club. Kelly Railean gave us a very informative tour of the facility. You can tell she has great passion for what she does and it shows in the quality of the product that we sampled after the tour. It was hard to pick a favorite from among the several types of rums and the blue agave that we sampled. They were all very, very good. Thanks to a recent change in Texas law, led largely by the efforts of Kelly you are able to purchase bottles or mixed drinks of her products at their gift shop. We were on holiday in Texas in June this year(2013) and I am a huge RUM lover.We found Railean on the internet and promptly called up and arranged a site visit.On arrival we were struck by the small size of the operation and wondered how they could fill a 45-60 minute tour schedule.Not to worry as the time just flew past, the guys at Railean were so energetic and full of enthusiasm I could sit there all day and listen.The tour should last between 45-60 mins, it costs $5 with a sampling session and a shot glass to take home and was simply a great way to pass an hour or so.They don’t just do RUM either but also a Taquila which was very good.Very much recommend a visit if you are in the area and have a hour spare.

The wild Quaker Parrots of San Leon is the reason the Raileans chose a parrot for their label. Kelly Railean is a Master Distiller, and her distilled spirits (She has oldest Rum distillery in Texas)are mighty tasty! She will allow you to sample white, dark, spiced plus 3 types of "tequila" No, I mean 100% agave--white, gold and reposado. Her tour was very informative and we WERE lucky enough to see 4 parrots fly by while we were there! The only thing for sale here are t-shirts-- but the local liquor store around corner stocks all the spirits. The tour was $5.00 and included a Raileans shot glass.

This distillery is the only first and only certified rum made in the United States. Kelly Railean is the master distiller making several rums and blue agave. Kelly gives a tour that is very interesting and informative concerning her business. She explains how she got into the business and her past work experience which lead her to distilling spirits. We also were able to sample various rums and the blue agave. She cannot sell her rum at the business because it is not illegal but her rum is sold at liquor stores in Texas along with four other states. Kelly is really a nice person and will answer questions about her business. Also she starts the tour with a sample of rum cake. yum!!. Her tour is $3.00 or $5.00 with the souvenir glass. She gives tours by appointment only.
