stephenville historical house museum

We came here to check out the river mainly (it was dry) but were charmed by the houses on the property. Each one had a sign out front explaining what purpose they had served and who had built them. We didn't go into the office, so we didn't ask then to unlock the houses so we could see inside structures... but we peaked inside the windows. Each house appeared to be decorated with period pieces. Fun also to see the the old surrey and buggy on display. Nice way to spend an hour or so! The giant cartoon character at the back has a good story that we found out about from a local.

This museum is a great. stop if you're in Stephenville for a weekend, or if you are a lifelong resident. The historic buildings are great examples of how early local residents lived, and you are allowed to fet a very good look at them. .There are activities like plant fairs holidays town festivals and many other events on weekends throughout the year. This is a great venue that hosts many weddings, including my own 8 years ago. There are also 2.8 miles of well developed trail along the Bosque river right behind the cabins. If you have an eye for history or nature the trail is a real treat. Check out the museum, you won't be disappointed.

Outdoor museum, you are escorted throughout the property. The lady who took me through had lots of stories, very interesting.
