The San Fernando cathedral is very inspiring. Although rather simple on the exterior, the inside of the structure has beautiful statues and stained glass. It's incredible how old this building is.
We stopped by as a stop on our trolley tour to see this beautiful cathedral. The altar depiction of the crucifixion is outstanding. Worth seeing.
I've been to lot so of churches and this one was spotless. I wish I could have figured out how to/where to pay for a candle to light. It was not apparent.
This is a beautiful building that was enhanced by the Light show. We learned of the contributions of the Canary Islanders who came to settle the area.
We were going to skip this one, but it was close to our walk back to the hotel. We went to see the tomb of Davy Crockett, William Travis, and Jim Bowie, however there was a Quinceañera taking place. It was beautiful. The altar was lovely.
I have visited this place many times and I fell in love with the cathedral's charm every single time. The Sunday mass is a must if you are staying during the weekend. After you have visited the cathedral you have to view the night light show that shows the history of San Antonio.Rent a car to experience all the missions and their beautiful history.
This cathedral is a marvelous stop on any San Antonio trip. Beautiful architecture and rich in history
The beauty and design of the building itself stands out from all others around it. At night, from our hotel room, there was a light show on the building that was absolutely beautiful.
Fantastic 20 minute sound and light show where the history of San Antonio is projected onto the cathedral. Braved the cold and went twice. Highly recommend
This is a beautiful cathedral. We were amazed to see the tomb holding the remains of the heroes of the Alamo located just inside the front door. The statues and art work are impressive. The atmosphere is peaceful and serene. There is a plaza just outside the cathedral with a café and a nice gift shop.
We learned of this cathedral on our boat tour. The captain told us if we had time to check out the nightly lasershow. We walked over from our hotel and watched the laser show, which was amazing. The church itself was closed and we were not able to go inside on this trip; but, the outside is becautiful architecture and the laser show is amazing...certainly a must see while in SA.
I had expectations of the San Antonio Cathedral and they weren't met at all. The Church is beautiful, with excellent maintenance, it almost shines, but is not that big, or magic if you have been to Latinamerica's o Europe's big and beautiful churches.Anyway, it's worth the visit if you have time to spare.Tip: In front of the altar, you can step right into San Antonio's official city center!
At 9, 9:30, and 10 pm on Friday and Saturday nights don't miss the spectacular last show at this cathedral. The front of the cathedral becomes an amazing "canvas" for a colorful, 23 minute long laser show with musical accompaniment. We stumbled upon this accidentally one night and returned the next night to watch it again. Very cool.
Beautiful Cathedral we have in San Antonio. A real treat and architecture. Beautiful to see lit up at night too. Go inside and see where William Travis and Davy Crockett are burried.
