I've taken my granddaughter there twice in the last year. She is not quite three years old, so many of the exhibits are lost on her. However, the children's play place, for children age five and under, keeps her busy for hours. I'm eager to see her grow into the other attractions like the Omni movie theater and the "real" science exhibits, but if you've got little ones who have busy bodies, take them there. Children under the age of three are free.
We really enjoyed the theater. I hadn't been there since 2000. They have expanded and have a neat reptile show allowing kids to touch the animals.
This is a fun interactive place to take your kids to have some hands on fun. Its also interesting for adults. I don't know if you would go more than once but maybe if they have seasonal exhibits then yes. Its definitely worth visiting at least one time. The kids had a fun time and their was plenty to see and play with. Price wasn't too bad.
I went with my aunt during a recent visit and we had fun. I am a kid at heart so that made it that much more fun. If you are looking to let yourself go and be a kid then this place is going to be awesome for you. Lots of hands on exhibits that are very enjoyable. The Omni theater is amazing and the shows are good there also.
This is a lot of fun even for adults. We had a blast and so did the kids we were there with. It is something fun to do with your kids. It is really hands on and a lot of fun.
This place hasn't changed too terribly much since I was a child. However, it's a very charming place. It's especially for awesome kids 5 and under because there's a children's museum that's completely hands on. The rest of the Science Spectrum is also really hands on. We went when they were having a reptile expert who had all kinds of slithery creatures she was showing off. It was fun! They also have an omni theater. This place is good for field trips and day trips.
My husband and I decided to check out the Science Spectrum while we were in Lubbock for the day. The museum had a lot of really cool, interactive and educational activities. The only bummer was that the museum had quite a few activities/exhibits that needed repairing. Some of the exhibits that involved electronics, such as the "push this button for information" type activities, were not working. Besides that, the museum is really fun and educational for both kids and adults! My absolute favorite part of this visit was getting to catch one of the IMAX shows! We chose to watch "Hidden Universe" and I have to say, getting to experience watching a documentary like that on a screen that big was AMAZING!! If for some reason you only get the chance to do the museum or the IMAX, definitely go with the IMAX...you won't regret it! Overall, had a lot of fun at the Science Spectrum and we will definitely need to come back and bring some family or friends with us next time!
While some exhibits and areas are somewhat dated, overall the museum was interesting and fun. The main draw seemed to be the IMAX theater and movies, but we didn have time to see anything. We took our 1 year-old and there was 1 particular area for him to play, but many play areas appealed to him.
We saw a movie/presentation at their Omni Theater. I grew up going to the Omni in Fort Worth, so it was nostalgic to see that this one is so similar. We were there for the last showing of the evening. It was sparsely attended and the staff didn't seem excited to have to stick around, but that didn't take away from the experience too much. We're glad we went; this is an asset to Lubbock.
The best part of this museum is the IMAX theater. Overall, the facility is small, and every time I go, seems to be in some state of renovation or repair. There are hands-on exhibits for smaller children.
We are from a larger TX city and while ours is newer, this Children's museum is superior as far as learning installations. We were pleasantly surprised and will be back on our subsequent trips to Lubbock. The movies were great too!
Great place to go and see a round movie to get the feel that you are their, or ride a rollercoaster at the fair, or see marine life as if you were their. They also have displays in the back at certain times. Great place to spend so great time.
Three floors of science fun for all ages. My two year old really enjoyed making large bubbles and there is a under 5 play area complete with water table, a grocery store, a music room, and a veterinarian where the kids examine stuffed animals and review xrays. It is really cute. On a cold or rainy day a great place to spend a few hours getting the kids tired. Fun for teens or little ones even adults. The grandparents in our group were even entertained. Well worth it.
They have an IMAX theatre there and they play a lot of documentaries and discovery shows. Not to expensive to get in and also has a lot for kids to do.
I used to go here years ago when I lived in Lubbock. It's still a great place....lots of fun. Took my kids this time and my daughter really enjoyed it.
