A very interesting museum that had a lot of great displays. Very informative and highly focused on the veterans', even got some unique relics that couldn't be found anywhere else. If you're at Wyoming, this is really a great place to see.
Very interesting for history buffs. Not fancy but really organized and I enjoyed it so much to see about many eras of the military.
We stopped here on our way to Cody and Yellowstone and we did not plan enough time. This is an absolute must see for American veterans of all of our conflicts and their families. It is also a must see for history buffs as you will not see an equally amazing collection of military affects until you get to the Veterans Memorial Museum in Centralia, Washington. The Casper museum is located in the 1941 vintage, but now restored and well maintained, enlisted mens club on the site of a WWII US Army Air Corps training base and now the regional airport. The murals on the walls, painted by novice Army airmen, are incredible. There is not space here to describe the collection that has been gathered from and donated by Wyoming veterans and their families. Some of the artifacts can not be found in any other museum. If this is your interest or you have family members who have served, take the time or make the time to stop here, you will be very glad that you did. The museum is free, but please make a generous donation to support this one of a kind attraction.
I have lived in Casper Wy my whole life and thanks to passport to adventure summer passes I finally got to see this hidden gem! Amazing information, interesting displays and a very helpful and kind guide. Thank you all who served to keep this country free! We will be back!
Located at the old Airbase at Natrona County International Airport (CPR) you'll go back in time with Veterans that are more "local" uniforms, pictures, gear, and stories galore. Take the 40 min. and browse thru the free museum. During the summer, its open Tue, Wed, Thurs, Fri and Sat.. 9 - 4.
The museum has built most of its displays around the stories of individual Wyomingites who served in the specific conflict - much more interesting (at least to me) than just a generic description of artifacts. AND the staff are GREAT. Very willing to come answer any questions you might have.
