My husband and I booked a 4-hr ride with dinner this month/Sept with Historic Trails West and had a wonderful time learning about the Oregon Trail, experiencing a true horse-drawn covered wagon ride following a portion of the actual Oregon Trail followed by a good meal cooked outdoors. The experience was outstanding and we would recommend anyone interested in our US history along with the wonderful outdoors that Casper WY has to offer take the time to take this ride.B and B Reno

Our family of six were really looking forward to getting a taste of the pioneer life, with a covered wagon trip followed by an overnight stay "on the praire" but found the experience to not be worth the $200+ per person it cost. On the positive side, the short wagon ride gave us great respect for the pioneer settlers who crossed the country and we really liked the steak dinner and eggs/bacon breakfasts that they prepared for us on the fire. What disappointed us was that all we got -- essentially -- for $1200 was a 90 minute wagon ride, 2 meals, and a night sleeping in a tepee. I wouldn't complain if the cost was significantly less (maybe $50-$75 per person), but this our trip was NOT a good value. Our 'hosts' were the grandchildren of the owner and they didn't share (or know) much information about the historic trail or the experiences of the original settlers. They didn't seem to want to be there either. They didn't make much effort to interact with us and spent a lot of time talking on their cellphones and texting and the grandson -- who was supposed to be staying with us at the camp -- left that evening to go into town and get a tattoo! Maybe the trip would have been better and more informative if the Grandfather / Owner would have been with us instead of the grandkids. Disappointing!

We just left doing an overnight on the Oregon Trail, our 3 kids ages 16, 15 and 8, and my father, my husband and myself. We had two horses that we switched out riders and we all had a wonderful time, learned a lot and enjoyed a wonderful steak dinner and great cowboy breakfast! We slept in tepees enjoyed the wonderful state of Wyoming! Morris was a wonderful & knowledgable host. And they try hard to give you a wonderful experience. We would highly recommend this !Thank you Morris !!!

We took the 4-hour covered wagon and horse riding trip. How interesting, fun and novel. I rode in the covered wagon most of the time and my husband rode Taz. Taz is a beautiful horse, very well trained and easy to ride. I am older and stiff and just wasn't as confident riding him as my husband, The scenery was beautiful. Morris drove the covered wagon expertly and I actually laughed out loud it was so much fun. It was well worth the money if you have ever wondered what it was like to cross the country in a wagon or if you just want a unusual experience. Kids would probably love it!!And the lunch they fixed for us was incredible. Jackie fixed it over a grill and we had tender steaks, green beans, and potato salad. And then to top it off, an apple cobbler fixed with coals in a cast iron dutch oven!! We loved the whole experience and would definitely do it again if we came anywhere close!!

This is far from a typical tourist stop. We went out with the owner who has traveled on the entire trial and builds his own covered wagons. He is a wealth of information on the trail and the surrounding area. Dinner was a very casual unstaged event, as was the entire 4 hour ride. It was very refreshing and a great experience to be on a tour like this with someone who cares so much about the trail itself.
