Pioneer Village and Museum are a wonderful asset to this historic little town. Museum is filled with wonderful items from this area and the Village is a great outing for children and adults alike! Walking thru time into these buildings set up with all the period décor is very interesting.loved it!
It may look small from the outside but fully loaded and extends outside. So much to see from history and culture to the oil industry and geology.
What a great place! So much history right in downtown! It is also very affordable. I would highly recommend checking out the museum.
What a nice surprise. My husband's great uncle was the sheriff in Aztec, NM from 1909-1916 so while in this area we decided to stop at the museum and see what we could find out. The lady there was wonderful. She pointed us to the Pioneer Village where there was several reconstructed buildings to check out, a General Store, Post Office, Doctor's office, Jail and Sheriff's office. When we went into the sheriffs office we found a photo of my husband's uncle on the desk. When we walked back through the museum the lady had pulled a file with alot of information on the sheriff and our family. We really appreciated all her help. If you like history. You'll love this place.
Inside there are a couple of rooms of limited interest, to me at least.Except for the barber's including a bath tub as would have been used.Outside there are a collection of 1900 era buildings; school ,shop ,post office, sheriff's office, bank, church recVery intrredting, could have Bern made better by employing actors to bring the town to 'life'.
This is a unique museum of items from the turn of the century & older. On the grounds are several actual buildings of the 1800s (school, jail, home, general store, livery, lawyer, etc.) Very informative. Would be nicer if the museum had A/C.
Love the old village. There was a special event going on and there was horseback riding and people in costume pretending to be characters from the old west.
local attraction near farmington and local couple took us to the site. Very interesting the history and background surrounding the buildings. Local artisans selling wares as well and wife bought a gourgous ring.Worth the diversion
Between looking for jewelry nd seeing the sights, we stopped in at the Aztec Museum. That day (Fathers' Day) was free admission. It was a small but interesting place to visit.
