We thought we would be at the jewelry factory for a short stop. We so enjoyed the tour watching them make the pewter jewelry and picking out tons of affordable. Unique gifts to take home. The woman who gave the tour was very informative, open to questions, made us pieces that were not in stock but for which they had molds. The iris farm was out of season. We stopped there first. They had some wonderful fabric and purses. The turquoise laden purses we had not seen before. It looks like not much from the highway at milemarker 286. Garden is at 284 on highway 70. Not a place for small children as quarters are tight. The farm gift shop is on several levels accessible by stairs only. We like supporting local artists and trade. They have figured out the whole process to make it local. Unexpected just plain fun.

Interesting. Struck me as a hippie place where some folks decided to grow flowers and host a garden. Not much to see in Sept as it was past good flower season. No cost to look around, just a little bit of through back place from years gone by. Worth the stop to stretch your legs but don't make a special trip.

The owners are a delight. The gardens and shop are absolutely amazing. This hidden Jem is a must stop on HWY 70/380. We love it, we stop every time we are out riding our bikes. Nice cool place to have a rest! Thank you for building such an oasis in the valley!

The Iris were in bloom in May when we visited. We spent about (2) hours here admiring the various colors. The garden is well-maintained and a beautiful spot for a picnic. There were a few ladies painting in the garden while we were there, they even allowed us to view their progress. The owner and gardener were so helpful in assisting us with our selection of a few iris to have shipped home. They are now planted in our backyard and already pushing new growth up through the soil. We are hoping for some blooms next year.

This is the second time that I have been here with my family. We went three years ago and all picked out an iris for ourselves. They are still going strong in my parents front yard! :) This is a nice little sanctuary filled with all sorts of interesting bugs and birds. We spent most of our time watching the epic hummingbird wars going on! The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. I always enjoy a visit to the Hondo Iris Farm.

Walked around the gardens, enjoyed our time talking with owner and had a quaint picnic in the garden.

Found out about this place a few years back and finally got to visit it. My Fiance is a huge fan of Iris and we have a lot of it in our backyard, and she'd been dying to go there. The selection of Iris is pretty vast, and the prices aren't bad for those interested in buying. If you don't live nearby and visit you'll have to have the plants shipped to you - they try to have them out by mid/late July each year. You can also purchase plants on their website. Also of note, there is a small gallery shop with interesting clothing & jewelry in it. There are also tons of Hummingbirds around at all times. It's no amusement park, but if you enjoy a nice peaceful garden and beautiful plants, this is a place I'd recommend visiting.

The Iris Farm was a small place off the side of the road just outside of Hondo, NM. Small but well manicured and maintained with pretty blooming irises of many varieties. On sight is the gallery of the owner who paints, sculptures and designs the paintings, clothing and jewelry. The manager of the gallery is a tiny but colorful lady who is anxious to tell you about the items in the gallery and give you a lesson on the irises. Worth a stop. Up the road in the small village of Hondo is the artist/owners small jewelry factory. The jewelry is designed after the paintings on the walls of the cave dwellers. The manager of the studio was very informative and helpful as she took us through every step of making the jewelry. From the melting pot to the final bracelet and ear rings. I found this as interesting as did my wife. The manager was very courteous and answered all my inquisitive questions.
