We visited yesterday, and were very impressed. Beautiful old home, with numerous exhibits on early Roswell. We learned so much, didn't know that Roswell was first a humble trading post on a cattle drive trail, then became a thriving agricultural area, then home to an air force base, etc. A lot more to Roswell than the alien story! The lady working at the museum was so enthusiastic about the town's history, and shared lots of info with us. We were more than happy to make a donation, plus bought a great book on Roswell history.

Used to be a house, built in 1912. Exhibits on first and second floor. There's a look at cultural time pieces, toys, furniture, clothing. Was a beautiful setup and well kept. Also free, which makes everything better

What a lovely facility. We had a reunion gathering. Lots of space, well maintained and lovely staff.

The Roswell Museum and Art Center was closed the day we were in town, so we ended up here by default. I remembered reading a review that said this historic home and museum was worth a stop, so we gave it a try and were very glad we did. They accept donations and we were happy to give one since it was so interesting and well done. We spent about 45 minutes browsing, but you could zip through in 20 minutes or spend an hour or more depending on your level of interest.

The site was once the James Phelps White home. The house is now well over 100 years old and steeped in history as well as a repository for historical items from SE NM. There is an incredible collection of antiques, artifacts, books, and pictures; many donated from the families in and around Chaves County. Be sure to check out the recreated and refurbished kitchen. Definitely a place to visit while in Roswell. There is a small admission fee. Also have a look at the books by local authors and the Archives. No better place for genealogy tracking in the area.

Restored early 1900's house with original furnishings and artifacts from the 20th century. Quite a lot of material displayed all over the house. Definitely worth a visit.

The museum is in an original 100 year old home and most of the original furniture and fittings are on display. The displays give you a good idea of how life was back then. The lady who showed us around was very knowlegeable and extremely friendly.

Not flashy, but a delightful presentation of Roswell that shows there is more to the town than aliens. The museum is located in a beautiful historic home, and packed with interesting antiques and information on Roswell. It really gives a feel for what it was like to live in the era. There are a number of displays, including everything from early ranching to the time the Roswell team won the Little League World Series. I especially enjoyed the old photos of buildings, and got a kick out of a local supermarket ad from an earlier era when you could buy a roast for 25 cents a pound etc. The woman on duty was delightful and very willing to answer historical questions. There is no fee, but you can toss a small donation in the butter churn. It's well worth a visit if going through Roswell.

Many antiques. They have some household items that you would never have thought of as existing in the Old West. Friendly people who are very knowledgeable about just about any question you could ask about Roswell history.

off in a quiet older section of town, the Historical Center for Southwest New Mexico is a gem if you enjoy personal glimpses into the past. No preachy displays her, just a charming, well maintained historic home filled with artifacts from the local area. This is well worth the stop and I think the best of all of the Roswell museums. Excellent displays of home furnishings and period costumes from 1880 to 1950.
