Top notch entertainment for reasonable prices. Can't beat the shows, but their new programs are really fun. Their Tuesdays with Stories programs are held at 12 and 7 and examine books and have a one-person interpreter who acts out some of the scenes...followed by a Q and A with the artist. At lunch there are small snacks with a $5.00 lunch available for preordering. In the evening there is wine and cheese between the presentation and the Q and A. Another fun program is their Club 28 which is a cozy, on-the-state cabaret style performance. The performer/s sit facing the audience, while the guests are on stage at small cabaret style tables for 4 and you are right up close and personal with the artist. For the 12 o'clock performance there are small snacks, but for the evening performance there is wine, soda, water, and cookies with snacks on the table. Each ticket entitles the bearer to 2 free alcohol drinks...wine or beer...and the soda, water, and cookies are on the house. Attendee all comment on how cozy and nice this experience is! It's great entertainment with a nice atmosphere.
Brings to our local community concerts and shows at very reasonable prices. The theatre is always kept clean and the volunteer ushers are older residents of the community.
Listen, it's not Broadway so please don't be disillusioned by the five star rating I gave it. That being said, you can absolutely see a fantastic show for a great price locally without heading into the city. We have not been disappointed at RVCC's theater. We've seen ballets and plays and musicals and it's been a great night out with family and friends. If you are lover of the theater but just can't seem to be able to figure out the logistics of heading into the city all the time to take in a show, get your fix at RVCC. They have a great variety of shows and programs and there's something for everyone. Subscriptions are available, too, so you can pick and choose what you'd want to see for the entire season. Great gift idea, too! Again, NOT Broadway, but for a fun, easy night out, it can't be beat.
The RVCC Theater is a great local place to see shows. It's in a suburban area and there's lots of parking on campus. It's too bad Tripadvisor doesn't have any way to rate the other gem on campus - the planetarium! It's on the other side of the campus and even has a new observatory! They do a number of shows and laser concerts for all ages. Raritan Valley Community College is definitely a place to visit! Check out the theater AND the planetarium on campus!
Hard to go wrong here. excellent shows at a reasonable price. free parking and sometimes free shows. I recently went to see Melba Patilla Beals, author of Warriors Don't Cry. The event was free and i got my book signed and my picture taken with the author. they have a great schedule of talent
This wonderful theater seats about 1000 people on two levels. It is located on the campus of Raritan Vallen Community College and is major part of the artistic scene of Somerset County. There are major productions of dance, musicals, Jazz, Chinese acrobats, and more. Each season provides all type of wonderful entertainment of all genres. The college also hosts private shows for local community and civic groups as well as for the student dancers for their recitals. There is a children's and family series and Tuesdays with Stories where books are acted out and discussed. They also have their Club 28, on the stage cabaret style perfomrance in a warm and intimate setting. Parking is in the college lot adjoining the theater. The theater also provided special seating for wheelchairs and other types of handicap concerns. It is a real asset to the community and for the artistic edcuation of the whole county!
