I've been here several times and I always have fun. Nothing beats floating down the Delaware on a nice Sunday afternoon. I love the idea of having the famous hotdog man at the half way point. I will definitely come back!
I went tubing this past summer with my husband and 2 kids. My kids are 9 and 12. We all had a great time. We loved the tubing and the hotdog man. I would go back every summer.
Thank goodness that mother nature made the river, it was the only redeeming part of this place. Upon arrival it took almost 2 hours to get to the river! The place is a field with porta-potties and makeshift tents for changing areas and is run by teenagers. The staff was inept, unhelpful, completely disinterested in making anyone's experience enjoyable. While waiting about 30 minutes for a bus to take us to the river we got to see 2 of them break down which didn't instill a lot of confidence to start, and then getting hit with the tubes as they were being thrown to bus made it even worse. Then the indy 500 in the bus was more scary than the river. The time on the river was beautiful, until we got to the River Hot Dog Man. Carrying a meal for 3 across the flow on the river without any plates or tray was the least unhappy part of this experience. The candy bars must have opened in the coolers cause they were waterlogged, the hockey puck hamburgers we barely edible, and the conversation from the staff while waiting about how they were serving horse meat to last year's guests nearly made my wife vomit. DO NOT EVER GO HERE!!!It is so bad here that they have a sign saying that anyone posting a positive review online will receive a free trip. Obviously not worth a free trip
My fiancé and i decided to go on a random trip from philadelphia to this place today, about an hour and a half drive from where we live. To start off, we pulled into the parking lot all the way up to the tent that says "wait to pay"- or something like that. There sat an empty chair. We waited there for ten minutes as we watched 5 workers stacking tubes ignore us. I then decided to call the companies number and them know that we were just sitting waiting for someone and they just told us to park our car. When we got up to the office area I asked them a few questions concerning the weather forecast for this evening. They assured us we were fine. Some guy handed us life jackets with out sizing them and we got onto a old smelly school bus. The guy had to try a few times to even start the thing. He was a nice guy though. I asked him what happens if it rains and he had explained to me that we are still able to be in the water as long as there is not thunder or lightning. He said that if there was "we will choke you if we have to, to get you out of there" i assumed he was trying to be funny but it gave me some assurance that we will be helped. We stopped at some random spot on the side of the road where some kid was standing and he took us down this hill to go into the water. He just put our raft in and stood there, didnt say a word, didnt assist us into the raft, nothing. I asking him where to go and he just said "left". No one explained where to end up at, how far to go, how long it took, nothing. Okay, so that was just the beginning. Not even a half hour into our adventure down the river it started raining. Now i know thats mother natures fault but it gets better. The rain picked up and there was the thunder and lighting! We ended up pulling off to side of the river and met up with a family. We sat there for a half hour with no one to be seen to help us. The rain slowed down a little so we decided to get back in our raft and continue on to the hot dog stand where we were served cold hot dogs and lemonade with bugs in it. yumm. The whole stand was surrounded with wasps. I asked one of the guys at the stand what to do since its obviously not safe conditions to be in the water. he said "actually its safer to be out there then on land".... REALLY???? He also directed us to a island a little further then the stand that we can go to in order to get the to street to be picked up by a bus. So we got back into our raft and went to the island. Now you would think that if an employee would direct us there it would be a safe place to exit. NOT. We had to pass over slippery rocks, stubble thru a tunnel. and climb up a cliff with wobbly boulders to climb up that was surrounded by barbed wire. Keep in mind we are doing this while caring a rather large raft. After that adventure we ended up waiting for a bus for at least an hour. I was confused why were had to wait so long for a bus when we were told they drive down the road constantly to pick people up. Anyway, when the bus showed we got in and drove a mile down the road when he stopped the bus and said he had to pick up some tubes that other people just left there. OK. we waited for 20 minutes while this bus driver walked up and down the road to look for tubes. He game back with nothing. Then we went to what i assume was the end of the river because there was a whole group of people standing there. The bus drivers loaded this bus with the people. It was packed. And when i say packed I mean we were literally sitting on top of each other. It was gross and extremely unsafe in my opinion. But finally, we were on our way back from this horrible experience. We spent a decent amount of money to be stuck in the middle of the Delaware with no assistance, direction, nothing. Not to mention how scary it was seeing flashes of lightning hitting what seemed to be extremely close to us. Then to walk thru tunnels and cliffs. I paid to have a nice time floating on a river, not to climb rocks and be stranded on the side of the road. What a horrible experience, NEVER using this company again.... at least I have a good story to tell right?
We chose this activity as part of our end of summer family fun week. We had an amazing time!!! The staff was very helpful and kind. The whole registration and set up process was very smooth and took no time at all, maybe 30 minutes from the time we parked to the time we entered the river. We decided to take our time, stopping on a few islands, so it took us almost 5 hours in total. I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone.
The experience was very good, basically they offer River tubing, rafting, canoeing, kayaking, etc... down 6 miles of the Delaware River. Depending on what time of year you go, the river can be very shallow in places but there are areas that are always deep. If your children are not strong swimmers, make sure their life preservers are secured and proper fitting. The river current in places is very strong and will overwhelm children. There is a $7 parking fee which was not listed anywhere, even on their website. This is a waste and should be incorporated into their fee. There is also a $2 river fee that should also be incorporated into their fee. Parking area is an open field behind the Shack restaurant. The Facilities are crude but workable. Portable bathrooms and weird rocket looking portable changing rooms. 6 total changing rooms, 2 were broken. You pick up your life preservers and rafts/tubes/what ever and board a bus. They seem to have plenty of buses and we did not wait on either end of the trip for a bus more than 5 minutes. There are plenty of things you can "upgrade" when tubing, we chose not to and were very glad we did. we did bring our own straps to connect our tubes and that was great, because otherwise your party will get split up. The river was great, Hot Dog Man was interesting, the total time we spent on the water was a little over 4 hours and the trip was well worth what we paid, I just wish the additional charges would have been disclosed more plainly.
I was there August 29th with two Grand children age 12. Getting you signed in , fitted with life vests selecting a vessel then onto the bus and finally at the launching site was handled well. We wanted to do tubing but it had been stopped for the day and we chose a canoe .The only complaint I had was we were not given any instructions on how to maneuver through the water with the oars to keep the canoe in the right direction. I did figure it out quickly . It was a lot for a 60 year old female but it was great. We loved the on the water eatery that was included in the admission. It changed the whole atmosphere of the trip. As one of my children was nervous as we started she relaxed after the eatery which is the half way mark of the trip . Some how getting back into the canoe at the eatery was a bit tricky and we ended up with a boat full of water but one call to the office and a worker at the restaurant came out solved our problem and sent us on our way. We did get stuck on some rocks further down and shallow water, again a call to the office and we were rescued within minutes. We were loaded onto an open speed boat for an exhilarating ride down to the exit/return site for free . I was blessed for again my grand daughter had gotten nervous as I was unable to get us free. She smiled all the way back on the speed boat . It is something that should be on everyone's bucket list . Everything is very simple from the changing tents, portable commodes and the old school buses. Everyone was polite friendly and helpful . I just would have loved to have had instructions. It is a great way to spend a day.
I came last week with my son and 4 of his friends. The entire experience was very good....it's all well run and organized from in check, free car key hold, transport to and from the river and lunch while you are tubing. The entire day, they have boats up and down the river to check everyone to be sure all are okay (which I appreciated traveling with teenagers.) I accidentally dropped a ziploc with money in it....and I was so upset, I didn't know where I dropped it in all that water! Turns out, it came out of my pocket at the HotDog man area and John-John (one of the boat drivers) had found it...and when I asked him at the end of the trip if anyone had possibly turned in a ziploc with money in it, he held it up and handed it right to me! I cannot tell you how good that made me feel, because honestly, anyone could have pocketed the money and not thought twice about it. His honesty and integrity were so appreciated, and I wanted to share that this is type of people employed at Delaware River Tubing. Thanks again John-John!We will be back next summer!
A summer would just not be a summer without a floating adventure down the Delaware River! This was probably our 5th adventure and we treated ourselves this year to a backrest $5.00 upgrade which I would definitely recommend if you have any neck or back issues. We also brought our own rope that we put loosely through our tubes handles so our group would be able to stay together. My two teenage boys had a blast and we all enjoyed the hot dogs with the yummy frozen candy bar option. All of the employees were very nice. Unfortunately, we went on a day when one of the buses broke down but hey stuff happens... They were very apologetic and offered us water bottles. Another problem we had was that the starting location changed from previous years. We used a coupon from The Entertainment Book which still had the old address so hopefully going forward they will make the necessary address changes. The overall experience is still worthy of five stars!!! A fabulous relaxing fun family day!!! During the 3 hours of floating we engaged in many conversations that we do not normally have on a daily basis. In my opinion, a "must do" family bonding experience!
My husband and son and myself spend the entire day on the Delaware with this company. The day could not have been more perfect than driving from the Poconos of Pa through all the quaint little towns that took us to Frenchtown. The weather was perfect, it was an ease to park, they do charge a nominal fee for parking. After filling out our release forms and applying our sunscreen we were directed to the area to get a life perserver to be kept on the raft and we then departed for the short ride to the entrance of the river. They had some pleasant students working the send off and we were on our way to a relaxing raft down the river. At half way point we stopped at the famous hot dog stand that floats in the river for some lunch that was included in the price of the trip. After securing our raft to a tree we headed to the ordering window. It was packed with people, yet; the wait was fun as we made our way slowly up to place our order. We had cheeseburgers and vegteable burgers, snacks and drinks. Fun time had by all!
Have gone many times with family and friends to go tubing down the Delaware river. We love adventure and always have so much fun!!!
I took a bunch of 11 year old boys and 15 year old girls for a rafting trip today. The place was very well run with very friendly and helpful staff and had us in life jackets and on the river very smoothly. It was just the perfect length of water for kids muscle power and the lunch stop halfway was really welcome. We do not eat hot dogs and the staff was great about giving us extra snacks instead. I appreciated that the staff schlepped our rafts up the stairs at the end which would have been tough to do as the only adult. I have done rafting on the Delaware before but will make sure to do it with this particular company again next summer. Great day all around!
My four daughters and I went on an adventure to the Delaware River Tubing with our coupon in hand not really sure of what was going to be involved as we had never been before. I made the reservation online and printed the waivers which helped save us time. We arrived around lunchtime and it was a bit busy. They had some water shoes available for purchase and you did really need those We paid and got our tubes and then took the bus down to the river. It was all done very professional with young people to help you every step of the way. They were experienced in all aspects of the adventure so they gave sound advice about what to do during your trip down the river. Our bus ride in the big pink bus was fine and we were really happy with our adventure. We were done around 445 and it took us a while to get back to where the cars were. Make sure you allow time to get back as they run the buses every fifteen minutes or so. they had a shower and a changing tent which was great and portapottys.
Had another great time on our ANNUAL TUBING TRIP! The river is beautiful! Swimming is perfect. Kids always love it and so do the Mom's and Grandma! Our associate, Kelly, was great!
Awesome time tubing with my family. Great fun with awesome SCENERY! The river was beautiful! Definitely would recommend wearing water shoes, the river bottom is full of rocks. I can't wait to go again.
