This is truly a lovely historic park which could be promoted by the state of New Jersey at a higher level. The parks proximity to Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Airport are astounding. Additionally, the historical significance and knowing you're walking on a major battlefield of the American Revolution are humbling. You can walk on the river banks, walk on paved walkways and picnic. There are benches, a children's play area and plenty of parking. Great photography. It's a truly a local, understated gem.
New big kid playground, tot playground, lots of open space to run or picnic, bathrooms, pavillions, historical site, and airplane landing views
We toured this park and learned all about the history and how it protected the river route from Philadelphia.
The Red Bank battlefield was right on the Delaware River with many picturesque views. Several monuments and original house dating well over 200 years ago. Wonderful place to walk, take in some history and enjoy some beauty of the Garden state on the Delaware. Enjoy Red Bank Battlefield.
It is the site of an important Revolutionary War event - the 1777 Battle of Red Bank against Hessians. The fortifications of the Fort Mercer in this 44 acre park were designed by Polish general and engineer Kosciuszko. The original Whitall House which witnessed the battle stands on premises and is open for tours seasonally. There are a few monuments in the park including Thaddeus Kosciuszko and general Hugh Mercer. The park is an attractive place to take your family to - with the playground, riverside walking paths, herb garden and picnic pavilions. The parking is convenient and for those who are not interested in walking and exploring it offers a great view of the Delaware river from the bluff. There is no fee to enter the Red Bank Battlefield Park.
