This store has a very aide selection of great titles, huge kids department. Very family/ community friendly. Lots of author visits and book signings.
books , gifts and authors and wonderful staff . hard to find books are found. Ridgewood gear is available as are graphic novels and toys.
Book Ends has a great selection of book signings almost every month. Stars you might only hope to see you can if you show up early enough for a signing. The store has a good system for the line for the signing and a large supply of books available. The authors usually only sign the book purchased at book ends. Be advised the wait can be long. Call the store for a good heads up.
. . . but who cares? It's just an average bookstore with limited selections and terrible prices. Not worth the trip
This place attracts a wide array of authors for signings. I have seen Hillary Clinton here twice. It's really special so you don't mind paying full price for the book.
I attended the Paul Stanley (of KISS) book signing. It was very organized & well run. I had a patient who also purchased his books of choice from Bookends. They were very helpful in getting the titles my patient wanted.
we can always find the specialty book we are looking for. staff is knowledgeable, very friendly and accommodating.
I don't live in the area of the bookstore, but have ordered signed books from them many times. The books come safely wrapped and always quickly. They get lots of authors doing signings in the store.
Brought my ten yr old son-in-law to meet some old wrestling guy who was signing his book.We got there on time and saw there were fifty or so fans downstairs waiting, but when we went to the counter to buy the book, they told us to just wait upstairs because he was nearly ready. That was great, because we met the guy and had the book signed straightaway, although another staff member was becoming exasperated because he wanted to get the author downstairs to get through the queue. Thanks very much Bookends, we jumped the queue and got through in ten minutes, but I don't think that was what you wanted to happen... Perhaps they need to brief all their staff on the procedure.
I attended a book signing. The place has a large selection of books and is well organized for book signings.
Let's see, I've met Julie Andrews, Goldie Hawn, , jimmy carter, Bill Cosby and Al Gore just to name a few at this wonderful bookstore. It is family run and operated and a joy to shop in.
I've been to Bookends for four celebrity book signings. Bookends is very organized and the staff is friendly. I have enjoyed being at their book signings more then the big chains - I won't name names
Living in CT, I was pleased to hear that Gregory Allman would be holding a book signing at Bookend Books in Woodbridge, NJ. The store's website stated that entry to the signing would be predicated on the purchase of a book prior to the signing, then bringing the book and receipt to the store at the time of the signing. The number of pre-sale books would be limited to 300. I already own the book, but would have been happy to purchase a second copy for a guaranteed in person signing. I phoned the store today, 4 days prior to the signing and was told that there were still books available which would allow entry to the signing. I then asked if I could purchase the book with a credit card by phone and then pick up the book and my admission to the signing at the actual signing in four days. The reply from the individual who answered the phone was "No." The individual went on to explain that I would have to come to the store in person, purchase and pick up the book, and then return on the day of the signing with the book and receipt to prove that I had purchased the book from Bookends. I explained that I live in CT and this was not possible. The individual explained that there was no option other than driving from CT to NJ to purchase the book and then returning to NJ on another day for the signing. I asked if I could call ahead the day of the singing with a credit card to hold the book and my spot while I drove to NJ from CT. "No." was the reply. You know what? Mr. Allman is doing a book signing earlier that same day at Barnes and Noble in NYC. I'll just head down there early and hope to be in line early enough to get a wristband for the signing - no purchase required. It absolutely amazes me that a local store like Bookends refuses to provide customer service to lure a customer and a sale away from Barnes and Noble. With the absolute lack of customer service exhibited by Bookends, it is no wonder that the local bookstore is verging on extinction. I'm sure that one day we'll be reading about the closing of Bookends. When we do, it will be at least partly as a result of the fact that they offer higher prices and much poorer customer service that Barnes and Noble. There is really no reason for Bookends to exist.
Locale bookstore, known more for book signings rather than the place to get that new book you want.B&N much better prices.
While this book store does not offer big discounts or any discounts at all it is what a bookstore should look like, smell like and supports local writers. They do have lots of book signings are they are always well run.
