A pretty big venue. You have to pay to park your car.No seats at this show.Not much variety in food choices.

We went to see Jim Jefferies (comedian) so I was relieved to see there were seats as i heard that it is standing room only. We bought parking online, and were shocked to show up and see it was merely a gravel parking lot, and they were selling parking there for $7. Im not sure how most music performances are there, since this was our first time there, but the showtime on our tickets was "6:30" and the show did not start until well after 8:00. Its far from modern and elite, but it serves its purpose as a venue. There are several bars, which is convenient, but little if no food. But all in all, I would see more shows there, I would just dress more comfortably, and have shown up an hour later.

I have been going here for ten years and it was always decent. The ticket prices were reasonable but any food or drinks were always grossly overpriced and terrible quality. I went this Friday for the Halestorm show, and I would just love to know why I had to pay $7 for parking, which was always FREE??? Not only did I pay $7 of GARBAGE, but I didn't even get to park on the property! I had to park in the lot next door which had NO LIGHTING WHATSOEVER and was unevenly paved. So while trying to not get raped and/or murdered or hit by a car in the pitch black lot we also had to watch out for rusty metal scraps and ditches to twist our ankles in and try to walk along side of the road which had no sidewalks or shoulder lane. You spent all this time renovating and all you did was tear up the floor and move the bar.Starland is a joke anymore. I wouldn't go again even if the tickets were free. You've gotten my money for at least 10 years...you won't be getting any more.

I've traveled cross-country to see shows here a number of times.. Overall, this place is cramped, too hot, and the layout is a disaster when the concert is over. In other words...it's perfect. Just the kind of place you want to go and mosh/dance/skank/whatever until you are about to pass out. Tip: If you are going to arrive late to the show (like right before the headliner comes on) it is worth it to pay for Star Parking, as it lets you jump the line to get inside. The line can be pretty long, so saving that 20 minutes is awesome.

We went to see a country concert at Starland and I was very impressed with several things: First, it was not jam packed. Sold out meant that there was still room to move around. Service was very pleasant and they kept up really well with lines for drinks. I thought it would be sweltering hot in there, but I was actually cold. Good job with AC! Security was a bit impressed with themselves, but we felt safe, so that is a good thing. I would definitely go back if they change a big drawback: The only thing that was very surprising and disappointing is that when my teen daughter and her friend tried to go to the restroom after the show, before our 75 minute drive home, they were denied access. Expecting women to use a parking lot porta potty at midnight with a parking lot full of people who have been drinking all night is unacceptable. Please revisit that rule. Starland does a great job making their crowd feel comfortable, but denying use of facilities to 17 year olds who have not been drinking but have been enjoying a show in the pit (after holding their spot for two hours until the main performer comes on) is really low. I can come up with reasons why they do it, but your customers are your livelihood. Thanks for welcoming us and taking our money, now finish the job!

I've been to the Starland a few times (both before and after Superstorm Sandy) and really dig the layout of this place to see shows. I'm a fan of heavy metal and I love getting as close as I can to the stage in the pit. The Starland has decent floor space up front which allows me to easily accomplish my goal.There is also ample space around the floor to enjoy the show without dealing with the craziness of the pit and the new sound system is fantastic!When it comes to parking at the Starland, there are two options: for $7 you can park in the lot across the street or for $20 they have something called Star Parking.Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money for Star Parking. I cannot emphasize enough, how much better Star Parking is than the regular parking.For starters, the Star Parking lot is right in front of the building. You can't get any closer. Your Star Parking pass also lets you go to the front of the line of people waiting to get in. This is HUGE because the Starland does a very thorough job of patting everyone down before they enter and the line to get in is always wrapped around the building.I was there in May to see Black Label Society, Down, Devil You Know and Butcher Babies. Thanks to the lovely traffic on the GSP from North Jersey, I got there later than expected. When I pulled up to the Starland, the line for the general lot on the right was long. I just showed my Star Parking pass and pulled right in on the left. The show was starting and the line was around the building. With my parking pass, I went right in the door, got patted down and made it to the front row by the stage as soon as the first song started. If I didn't have that Star Parking, I probably would've missed the first band.

Starland brings in no one but the best musicians of all genres. There's no assigned seating (it's all standing) so you have the chance to get up front. Wear comfy shoes!

First trip to the Starland. Will not be my last. Fantastic venue to see a rock show. Plenty of levels with great viewing angles, plenty of room for concertgoers. Bars were easily accessibble, food - pizza was suprizingly good. Staff was very friendly, lines for everything were short and the place was packed. Bands sounded fantastic and other than a lack of seating (which is to be expected) I struggle to think of anything that could have been improved. \ m / \ m /

This was my first time at this venue and I was not impressed at all. It was completely packed with people who were basically incoherent. The amount of shoving and pushing was uncomfortable for my wife and myself. Security, whose present was well known, was extremely aggitated and annoyed when a potential harmful situation was brought to their attention. I witnessed this first hand when a woman reported a clearly drunk and sloppy woman who kept pushing and falling into people in the crowd. Security yelled "Deal with it" instead of diffusing the situation. The only positive to this venue were the clean bathrooms.

The Starland Ballroom is kinda scary from the outside with a "lost in nowhere" roadhouse look. Parking is very rough/basic, and it is sort of insulting that they charge for it. However, inside is a nicely appointed general admission (standing room) small concert venue. Improved notably since the storm damage, the bars and restrooms got a face lift. If you are very tall, or enjoy close physical contact with masses of complete strangers this is definitely the venue for you. Short folks with any hint of claustrophobia think twice before venturing here ;-) If you aim to get as close to an artist or band as possible, be prepared to come early and stand endlessly. You will do this first on line to get in, then in front of the stage boxed in with little hope of moving. If you value your hearing, locate speaker stacks and adjust your position accordingly (consider bringing foam ear plugs, don't worry you can still hear clearly through them). Use restrooms before the show, and although I recommend hydrating to prevent nausea, don't overdo it. Leaving the stage-front area to use a bathroom can be challenging and means the end of your close-up experience.Hubby was more inclined to hang out and pay the usual jacked up prices at the bar, and said the sound was better balanced from there and the overall viewing experience was better due to the raised floor level. If I ever have cause to venture back to the Starland Ballroom, I will likely watch from the center rear up on the raised bar area to optimize the listening experience. Despite proximity, down on the floor I saw little more than glimpses past the backs of other concert goers while permanently damaging my hearing less than ten feet from the stage (and speakers ;-))

I love Starland because it is so close to my house, the tickets are cheap in comparison to other area venues and they book some pretty good bands! I recently returned for their reopening after the storm. Saw Stone Temple Pilots. Parking is available on site and it's not free but where in the world is anyone parking for free at a concert nowadays? I always have to pay for parking and depending on the location, end up walking a distance to get to the venue. Went to Bergen PAC recently and although got to park on the street for free, took me 10minutes of driving around to find a spot and then had to walk several blocks in the cold. So I wouldn't complain about less than 10 bucks to park 60 seconds away from the venue. The inside appears brighter and ceiling feels like it is higher since the remodel? Perhaps it's just the way it appears, but feels like there is more space in there now, especially the bar area which was very cramped and hard to see the stage from before. It's general admission but can always see the band perfectly and have never been to a bad show. The cost of tickets is cheap compared to other venues and they have some pretty big name bands that come through. Worth very penny to me.

Saw Rodney Atkins there. Place sits by itself. Kinda looks like a Roadhouse from the Outside, You pay to Park on their Property. I heard about the lines to get in, but luckily didnt have that issue. Inside is nice, Plenty of Bar space and areas to find a spot to hang at. We picked a spot by the Main Bar, Stephanie the BarTender was awesome! We had a lot of laughs with the staff at the Bar, show was great, sound system was great for the space!.Looking forward to attending more shows there!

Large ugly building with no free parking in site so I was immediately turned off. Got in a long line because we had tickets-there was no line or wait in the no tickets line. It was annoying to see people streaming past me who hadnt planned ahead like I did. Once I got inside I was actually quite suprised at how nice it was. Beautiful large room with two bar areas in the back. The area behind the bar had a large mirror so I didnt miss a thing while waiting for a drink. Although it was a large crowd the wait for a drink was never more than a minute. They wont let you remove drinks from that area so plan ahead if you want to get in front of stage. If you are there for a show I think you will feel like you always have a good view, I would definitely return and would have my tickets waiting at the will call booth!

First of all parking was terrible. It took forever..20 minutes or so just to get in the parking lot. The parking attendant was rude while collecting my $7 parking fee (when they first opened it was free then $5). I was then yelled at by more than one parking attendants telling me that I could not park in the venue's parking lot. I just paid $7 to park here...what do you mean I can't park here? I was then escorted to some sort of small lot next to the venue in front of some sort of junkyard. The vehicles here were driving all over this lot in different directions and the attendants did not know where to tell people to park. My friends and I has to walk through rocks, dirt, mud and potholes out of this pitch black lot with no street lights. We then had to continue walking to and from the venue on the side of the road. There was no sidewalk and it was unsafe. Inside was a better experience. The staff inside were much more friendly. There are three levels for concertgoers to hangout on. The only food I saw was pizza slices being sold. Beer will run you atleast seven dollars, a fireball shot was six dollars and water is three dollars. Most of the shows I saw here in the past, I did not pay more than twenty dollars for and now it seems as though their prices have drastically rised.

Cant tell you how disappointed I was when BVB cancelled their show TWENTY MINUTES before show time. Not a way to keep a "fan base". Rearranged schedule and school to attend. i understand Andy was sick and things happen, but you don't "do the fans like that". VERY DISAPPOINTED.Starland Ballroom is a great place and I know its not their fault. I think the concert promoter needs to refund those who attended last night's concert - 10/22..Bullet for my Valentine was excellent, but I specifically came for BVB. Like other bands when they cancel, they always try to come out and see their fans..or even give refunds...THIS BAND DIDNT...THUMBS DOWN!!!!!
