We have been winter camping at Jenny Jump for almost 10 years now. They are one of the few places that have shelters, (cabins) open all year round. We like to come up late Friday evening, and stay to Sunday. When we arrive the temperature is usually in the 20's, and we get set up as the wood stove heats the cabin. This camping is a civilized version of roughing it. No electricity or water but bathrooms and water are a reasonable walk away. We love to tend the fire and get the place toasty warm. There are 4 bunks with mattresses, and 2 additional people can sleep on cots or the floor. The hiking trails have become familiar to us over the years, but we look forward to our favorite spots, like the remains of the cabin where the park namesake Jenny, as legend has it, jumped to her death to avoid capture by indians, or the land bridge at Ghost Lake. The park staff is friendly, knowledgable and helpful. The comfort stations are particularly well maintained, much better than other parks we have camped at. A bonus is they are heated during the winter. Even on the weekends the facilities are kept clean and well stocked. We sometimes get the notion to try another park, but this place has everything we enjoy, and has become very special to us over the years.
