I decided to try the Zombie Apocalypse after listening to the Radio Host, Girard at Large, review. He mentioned that it was put on by veterans and that the money raised was being used for the Sgt. Santa Children's Fund. I had quite a few hair raising moments. I enjoyed other peoples reactions more than my own. I liked that it seemed to be a family experience as their were zombies of all ages volunteering to make children's Christmas brighter.
We decided last weekend to escape the usual excitement of Road Race weekend and head up to New Hampshire. Along the way we stopped in at Liquid Planet Water Park in Candia, NH. The waterpark was themed as an outer space alien adventure. We were sad to have arrived the day prior to their Star Wars day but we did get a chance to pose with R2D2 when we entered. Make sure to check out our fun videos in this blog including Tiny Man's video review of Planet Liquid on Cape Cod Mommies! Tip: Get their early as this place is very popular locally and as the day progresses more and more people arrive.Liquid Planet has a water park, a zip line (which goes over a lake), and a mini golf course. We set up camp near the Fountain of Youth which consisted of around 5,000 square feet of interactive water toys for the kids to experiment with. There was a fun seesaw that sprayed water, a rock climbing tunnel , slides, water blasters and more! The park also had 3 sets of water slides which even the littles could go on. The patrons have a choice of using a water mat or going without and we highly recommend if you are an adult to definitely grab a mat. They also have a new waterslide called: Shooting Stars where you slide down a 40 foot vertical drop racing a friend! Behind the water slides was Crater Lake which the zip line crossed. Crater Lake is a spring fed old fashioned swimming hole, complete with a waterslide floating out near the middle. We watched many people zipping over the water park and then over Crater Lake having a fantastic time!Another bonus was the old fashioned galactic mini golf course which definitely presented a challenge even for the most seasoned mini golfer. We loved the fact that there were actual obstacles and tricks!Liquid Planet Water Park is only open in the summer and will be closing on Labor Day. Our only negative was that we had not found this place sooner as it was tons of fun and definitely a hit with the smaller kiddos and we wished it was located here on Cape Cod (new business venture perhaps?). So next summer when you are heading north to camp or visiting attractions up this way, definitely make Liquid Planet a stop on your trip as it was fun, refreshing and definitely made our long drive easier!
We visited this park with our children, 11 and 8. Both are non-swimmers. This park has 3 water slides (one enclosed, one open, and one racing slide). We had issues with all three slide options. First, the racing slide requires users to be 100+ lbs. So, my younger son couldn't use it. My older did, but got very scared as it was steep and didn't want to repeat the experience. The enclosed slide (my kids despise the feeling of enclosed slides) and the open slide dump into a four foot pool. This is not a good thing for non-swimmers. I give the life guards a lot of credit. I talked to them about the situation. They told me that they could "radio down" to them and they would catch my kids or I could do it. I opted to do it. My kids did the open slide twice and were done. They didn't like the fear of going under water. Yes, they need to learn how to swim and they will this fall/winter. The other options were a splash pad type things - really suited for the five and under set. My kids were mildly entertained. There is also a very small pool and a lake. That's it for water activities. There is a very small, slightly cheesy mini golf course. There is a zipline that I opted not to partake in as I read that you are carted back to the park in a pickup truck. Not safe in my opinion. We received the tickets as a gift, but had we paid, I would not be happy. You can't bring any outside food in. This was fine, until the end of the day when we wanted a snack. The only option was really ice cream and bags of potato chips. They close the kitchen at 4:30pm, so keep that in mind. I'm on a special diet and my son has nut allergies. We didn't push the issue to bring food in and we made the best of it.If you do decide to go....bring your own chairs....the ones they have there seem to be saved or in use all the time. People throw towels on the chairs and claim them for the day. Not cool if you are not in them for hours at a time. You are allowed to bring in one bottle of water person.
We had a Groupon deal which averaged out to $12.25/ person and for that price we certainly got our money's worth. If it had cost any more than this, I doubt I would have been happy. It seems like a perfect place for small kids who would enjoy the splash park, or slightly older kids who would enjoy the slides, but I think anyone over ages 11 or 12 would likely not be "thrilled" - again it is all in the cost. My kids are 12 and 14, we paid very little for the ticket, and we were going to be doing nothing else that day anyway - we spent a few hours and they were happy enough. A local person with little kids buying a season's pass is probably thrilled. But if you don't fit this description, carefully research before investing time and money because this may not be right for you. Or it could be the perfect fit. But research. Everyone keeps saying it is "family owned" - and they are trying - and the staff is polite - but they seemed overwhelmed by the amount of people there, I guess in part because of the Groupon deal. If I could tell them to improve some things, this is what I would say: (a) Figure out a new Zipline method. We waited for 40 minutes. Our time slot was "anytime between 3pm and 4pm" - this really should have been narrowed down to maybe 15 minute time slots. At 3:15pm we planned to get in the line, but the one and only Ladies room was closed for cleaning (huh? midday? We wondered if someone had thrown up in there or something - what a bad time to clean) so we were left waiting in a LONG LONG LONG line for the Family Bathroom. At this time of day people with little ones were trying to leave, so they were using the bathroom to change clothes. All we wanted was to use the bathroom to actually "use the bathroom" before going on the zip line. After a 15 minute wait in line for the Family Bathroom (and still looking at probably a 15 minute wait ahead of us) the Ladies room reopened, so we did our business and got in the zip line. It took us then 40 minutes in that line before we finally got in to be weighed and receive our harnesses - all this after "signing up for a time" . You need to narrow the times down to 10 or 15 minute slots. (b) This is important - Pave the path to and from the zip line. My kids had on flip flops. They were told to take them off to go on the zip line. They were then forced to walk across very rocky dirty path to get to the zip line start. My daughter hurt her foot on a very sharp rock. If you are going to force people to walk barefoot, this area needs to be paved like the rest of the park. Again, at the end, same thing. Another rocky and very dirty path. This explains all the dirt on the floor of the Ladies room. Why not pave the path OR figure out a method to caribiner peoples flip flops onto their harness for the ride? (c) Build a changing room. There seems to be one large communal changing room - I mean communal - do you think we want to stand naked in a giant room with people we don't know? The answer is "no" - so everyone is using the bathroom stalls to change. Thus, people who really need to use the bathroom - especially little kids - are really having a rough time because the wait for the bathroom is LONG. (d) While you are at it, build another bathroom. For the volume of people there the day that I was there, there were not enough bathroom stalls - especially given that they closed the bathroom at 3pm for cleaning (e) For the swimming pond - I know you say the state tests the water "periodically" and that you post it. For heaven's sakes - YOU ARE RUNNING A WATER PARK - why are YOU not testing that water on a DAILY, if not HOURLY basis? I don't care what you posted - it looked nasty and I didn't want my kids getting ear or urinary infections so we stayed out of it (f) Why did you build a pool that is only half the size of a typical backyard swimming pool? You have the space, why did you build a 1/2 sized pool? Consider building a normal sized pool. Also, it would be nice if you have a heater to heat the pool even if you only heat it when it's been refilled. We were there on a hot day. The slide water was fine. But the pool water seemed as if it had just been drained and refilled that day with a cold hose. It probably was, which was good because it seemed clean. But it was freezing. It didn't matter because it was too small to do anything other than dip in and get out - too many people in it. Those would be the big things I would fix. If I had to add any others it would be (g) I don't mean to be mean, but it was laughable to have our "golf" section checked off on our wristbands - who is really trying to do that more than once, and if they are, for gosh sake just let them. It is meant for 2-4 year olds it seems. My daughter said, "This looks like it was built by a 12 year old boy". The mini golf ramps, etc., on all but about 3 of the holes looked more like they were just plunked down on the greens without any thoughts - they are more obstacles to be avoided than they are challenges to try to get through. On a few of the holes someone smartly placed the ramps, etc., so that you must get through them to get in the hole, but all the others are riduclous - why not just pull them up and place them down again so that they are more of a challenge. Don't spend any money - just use what you have and some place them better. But as it is, nobody was using it except I did see a few toddlers having a great time. So why not let them do it all day long if they want? (h) Allow people to bring in their own food. Water Country and Storyland allow people to bring in food. What is the difference if they are going to walk back out to their car to eat, as you suggest they can do? They're still not buying your food and you are just making them unhappy. You are or should be catering to people who live nearby and have little kids - just allow them to bring their lunch and maybe they'll come back another time, and another time, etc.. (i) Again, not to be mean, but it is also a bit hokey that you haven't figured out a method to make sure people don't reuse the wristbands - so that you "attack" people on the way out with a woman with scissors, making you wait while she cuts your wristband off. Really? Why don't you just write the date on the band with a marker - the same markers you are checking off the zip line and mini golf with? (j) I appreciate that you need some method for people to come back from the zip line. But the ride in the back of a dirty pickup truck - with just a couple of towels to sit on? You could have at least put maybe some lounge cushions. It was kind of funny, but one guy in line was calling it the "red neck zip line". I doubt this is the image you want. (k) on the zip line, I was given a pair of gloves that seemed pretty worn out. I truly wondered if a hole was going to just rip into them as I used them. You should get better quality gloves. Also, my 12 year old was given gloves to stop herself. I was surprised, I thought she would be like the younger kids to be automatically stopped. The gloves were WAY too big for her. She had a very difficult time keeping them on. She worried about dropping the gloves and then having no way to stop. You need different size gloves. While you are at it, get more harnesses. It seemed the long zip line wait was because we were waiting for harnesses to get shuttled back on the pickup truck. (l) keep trying - you are doing some things right. The staff was friendly. Except for the dirt on the bathroom floor (from zipliners who had to walk in dirt) the place seemed clean. Be careful about offering too many deals that get too many people in at once and then you can't handle them. Keep your price reasonable - I think you overinflate your value - Compare your price to Water Country - which is only 30 miles away - and for a day pass there you get SO much more for all ages - realize who your market might really be (little kids) and just be honest about it and market to them.
The place was smaller than I expected but there was enough to keep two 8 year olds and a 10 year old happy for 4-5 hours. The zip wire was great, the golf in a tatty state but our group of 7 had fun. The slides proved fun enough for all the boys and they played for ages in the pond/lake. The life jackets and blow up rings were in good order but we did feel that there should have been a lifeguard. Food and drink was of average quality and expensive. You weren't allowed to take your own food in and it felt like a rip off. We had a Groupon offer which made it it a little more palatable. There wouldn't have been enough to occupy teenagers. They had a zumba day when we attended and the booming music got a bit much after a while. The toilets were not clean and there was just one communal changing room in the ladies restrooms. It could do with updating.
Park is clean , well kept and you are surrounded by lifeguards , this place is geared towards smaller under 13 age groupHow can you go wrong for 19$ on groupon with zip line and golf Food was ok family of 4 ate for 39 bucks New float slide in the pond was an improvement from last year Staff was attentive not over bearing with there wistles and the store was neat and clean
This water park is for little kids, not teenagers or adults. For 2 grandparents, 2 parents, and 2 small children ages 6 and 4 the cost was $145. We were there for the kids and they loved every minute of it. No, it is not a big time park with state of the art rides, but it is just fine to keep small children entertained. Lifeguards constantly patrol the area, the water is clean, there are 3 water slides, a sip line, benches and chairs, food shop, souvenirs, etc. This is a small town area so people should not be so picky. It was clean, safe and my grandchildren loved it - what more can you ask for!
Oh boy, I wish we read the reviews first. Utter disappointment! According to my 12 year old nephew, did they buy their slides on ebay????? everything was cheap and seriously old fashioned. It would be a great park some 25 years ago and this is no exaggeration. I have to mention that my sons girlfriend was stung twice and she ended up in the emergency room and now on antibiotics for 2 weeks just from sitting on the grass. The day was a catastrophe and the music is a lousy pa system, I got a headache. By the way, the bathrooms are dangerously slippery as it is just painted cement and is continuously wet as its a water park???? Seriously, how is this approved. Can never advise anyone to spend money here unless you live next door and takes less than 15 mins to get to but please don't drive to visit it this place if you live further than 15 mins away. NOT WORTH IT! I repeat, NOT WORTH IT!
We thankfully used a groupon on our recent visit, so we didn't end up paying full price. However, this park is too small for the price they ask in admission. We went on a very hot day midweek - and it was still crowded for a small park. As others have said there are only a couple of water slides, my son is not 48", so he was only allowed to go down one slide....very disappointed, that gets old/boring quick. My son did enjoy the splash pad (the only part of the park he did enjoy and at that price it was an expensive trip to a spash park!) However, there were a ton of bigger kids in the splash park as well as littler kids and I didn't feel like the one staff person that was overseeing that area did anything to keep it from being super chaotic....The pond was orange colored, and smelled bad, I was not interested in swimming in that at all. Thankfully neither was my son!I should also mention that we always bring our own food/water to any park that we visit due to food allergies/issues - I've never had an issue(even if the park states no outside food/drink allowed). However, when I mentioned that to the girl who was going through our bag, she actually asked me what our issues were....ummmm....not to be rude, but I don't feel that is any of your business.I have an issue with parks that will not allow you to bring in your own food, even if you don't have allergies, if you are a healthy eater, and want to avoid gmo's, pesticides, artifical preservatives, etc...you shouldn't be forced to eat it!Also, for a water park where they know you are most likely going to be interested in changing out of your wet clothes before you leave, they only have one changing room available.....we changed out at the car, that was ridiculous. And I'm not changing in a bathroom stall with the toilet. All in all, we will not go back, Water Country is not that much more expensive for so much more of a water park!
Liquid planet is a far cry from a big water park. Not a lot to do there. I took a 7 year old and she loved it. It is small there and it was easy for me to keep my eye on her. If you are looking for a big water park with lots of slides... this is not the place. I was totally disappointed in the size of the pool. Very small. If you have young ones it is a good place to go. Older kids 8 and up not a lot for them
Crater Lake is a great hang out for any age. The younger ones can play in the sand and wade in the shallows. The older ones can relax on the beach or swim to the slide or raft in the middle. Being a season pass holder, we swim in crater lake often. The water is naturally dark, but is spring fed and clean. NO ONE in our family has ever gotten sick from the water (as another person reviewed) The park has 4 water slides. Two that wind you around and two the drop you STRAIGHT down. They have a pool and a good sized spray grounds. A small mini golf area and a zip line. You zip over the park and over Crater Lake. They have basic fast food and drinks and a trinket store. I LOVE that I can go into the spray grounds or jump in the lake without waiting in a line for 45 minutes. I LOVE not having to deal with a large crowd. The like the drop slide (fast). It depends on what you are looking for as to how YOU will like this park. If you want a smaller, relaxing, family owned and friendly place, you will LOVE it. If you are expecting a Water Country, go there.
Liquid Planet is a nice, smaller (but not small by any means) water park. It's not as hectic and crazy as some of the bigger parks, and attracts nicer people (well, mostly). Has great food and a nice shop. They've added 2 more slides, so they are growing. You can stay in the pools or enjoy the lake, zip line or some mini golf. When they first opened, I loved it because my son was younger, but I could sit and relax and see him lay in the spray park without having to follow him around, or feeling the need to. It felt safe, and being smaller, I could always see him, which is wonderful. It has grown since then, has attracted more people, and can be rather busy on a hot day (which is to be expected). Yet, I still find it much better than some of the bigger parks, and in general, I find the people easier to deal with.
We had a terrific day at Liquid Planet Waterpark and Zip Lines. The weather was great – except some nasty looking clouds rolled in and there was some thunder but it never amounted to more than that. Our two children have special needs but with entirely different interests – surprised? Sephora was totally addicted to the Zip Lines. She could have done that all day long. The first time she was a little nervous but definitely not for long. She sort of blends into the trees but she really is there if you look closely. Of course you can see the nasty clouds too… I brightened up the photos (too bright) but I wanted you to be able to see her.The only drawback to the Zip Lines is that you have to pay per trip. I wish there were some sort of all day pass, or multi-trip package you could purchase. After I walked her through the first one and signed the waiver, she really could manage it by herself. They have an abundance of staff to make sure everything goes off properly. But every time she returned I had to go pay for another bracelet. There are water slides – two enclosed or partially enclosed and two that are steeper drops. Sephora being the extremist that she is preferred the steep slides while Anthony preferred that more comfortable slide. They also have a sprinkler park, restaurants, a gift shop and more. And Anthony’s favorite part of the day was the lake – it has a dock out in the middle for jumping off; and a second dock in the middle with a slide to go sailing into the water. There are plenty of life jackets available for all the children and there were many children there today while day campers were there. After they left the park was pretty empty (between that and the thunderous clouds rolling in).My children know how to swim but they have only ever really done it in the safety of a pool. Sephora swam out there and back a couple times but then was too nervous to keep doing it. Anthony didn’t trust himself at all but that was not a problem because there were plenty of life jackets and plenty his size.We will definitely be going to Liquid Planet again. It is not so commercial that I am overwhelmed (or they are overwhelmed). It is a completely manageable size with plenty to keep them entertained and excited about being there. And right now if you happen to journey to a McDonalds in the area of Liquid Planet – they do have discount coupons available.
Although this may be a nice place to cool off a three year old overall the park is small and there are three waterslides. The pool is smaller than most above ground pools. The kiddie area well done but very little to do for older kids or adults.
After reading some of these reviews I was hesitant to go, but my five year old really wanted to go. I was pleasantly surprised. We had a great time. The staff was very helpful, pleasant and not rude at all. Everything was clean and there was enough stuff to do to keep is busy for the whole day. I would recommend this to anyone with small kids! I felt like I needed to write a review because I didn't experience anything like some of the other reviews.
