This biking trail has easy inclines and takes you through some wild prairie as well as wooded areas. If you have 2-3 hrs, ride to Battle Lake, have some lunch and ride back. On nice summer days families are picnicing, swimming, canoing. The scene on the grassy shoreline reminds me of how we used to spend time at the lake in the 50's. Very lucky to have this park in our area.
An amazing place i loved it, to all the photographers they will enjoy this place so much, In my opinion it is good for all ages, and for everyone to have a relaxed time by the lake.
I came to Glendalough for the hiking club trail and I really like what I saw. There was a great "naturalness" to the park that is missing in so many these days. Not to say it was wild, it was upkept well. The views and really the majesty of the place sets it aside from most other parks I have been to. Annie Battle Lake is a real cherry on top of it all. The sunset here was glorious and a sight to behold. I saw about 20 deer on the course of my hike. About half of them were fawns. There was just about no one at the park when I was there (a Friday night). Overall it is definetly a park worth experiencing and well worth the drive at any distance.
This used to be owned by the Star Tribune newspaper. They turned it over to the state. Great Park.. Great locaton
This is a very private and quiet park. The lakes are very pristine. No staff at entry way or available for information. Overall, a nice place.
Since becoming a park in 1991, this park is one of the most pristine in our system. It is truly "nature" at its most natural. Now a beautiful new bike trail runs through the park and is a must for all who visit. New yurts are being constructed to add to the canoe in campsite, cart in campground and camping cabins. Truly a gem of a park.
Our family spent the day at the state park to get away. It is a very large state park with many different things to do. Bike trails, hiking trails, 4 different lakes, a lodge to rent, cabins, camping, swimming beach, and more.
The park is very beautiful, you can see wild life like loons, deers, also you can go in paddle boat to a beautiful lotus lagoon, the bike trail that connects the park with Battle Lake is very safe and just open this year. it is an all day experience.you need to pay for entrance to the park like any state park. the employees are very helpful and like to give you as much information about the fauna and flora and history of the area.the park has many activities for the kids and families, like archery lessons.
We had camped at the campgrounds and it is cart-in which is fine but a little bit of pain. The grounds are well kept. Love there are boats provided. Also added was bike trails.
