stanton airfield

Our family happened to drive past Stanton Airfield this past weekend while driving home from Northfield. We noticed planes taking gliders up in the air and a number of families watching so we stopped to check it out. We were impressed that you could literally walk right up to the airfield to see the planes and gliders and my son was even allowed to sit in one of the glider's cockpits! There is a play area at the airfield for kids, while parents can sit by on a lawn chair and watch the planes/gliders taking off and landing. We noticed a small museum inside in the airfield and found that flight lessons are provided at the airfield. We are hoping to next either pay for a flight in a plane or a glider - these are provided at a very reasonable cost.
