Sawbill rents canoes and gear for longer BWCA trips and also day trips starting just down a path from their parking lot. We rented one large canoe for family of 4 to just spend a couple hours on an inland lake. They gave us a map and many good tips. After a brief intro, I easy carried the canoe to the water. Located about 22 miles up mostly dirt/gravel road that starts just next to the North Shore Market and across from Bluefin Bay.
