This is just like the road in San Francisco. Honda woke up and down are you the permission if you wish to drivehonda woke up and down are you the permission if you wish to drive.

Snake Alley is a beautiful landmark of the historic downtown Burlington area. It's beautiful year round. Artisans from all over come to photograph, draw or paint it's uniqueness and beauty.

No big deal that we couldnt drive the road, walking was just as neat, maybe better. The road is tiny, more like a walking path and not very long. Neat site to see, but doesnt compare to San Francisco. The view is great from the top...the town must have been really nice at one time. There is great architecture, but like everything else in Iowa, it has been left to erode and crumble.

Start at the top and take the winding trip one block and remember the glory days of Burlington. I remember doing this with my folks in the Packard, so I took my grand kid in my Silverado.

This picture does not do Snake Alley justice although I have not submitted another so far--perhaps this Spring. It has five half turns and two quarter turns. It is lined by trees and historic homes. It is one block long but certainly worth seeing if you're in the area.

Great trip down a great alley! Make sure the brakes on your vehicle are in good shape! And take your time.

the old city center and the many stately homes are both surprising and pleasant. The visitors center was extremely helpful.

It is a road unlike any other road. Very unique part of Burlington's history. Fun to see that whole neighborhood there.

Make sure your brakes are good before you go down! Be sure to see the photos of the construction at the bottom of the hill. It's a one-way alley.

Fall stroll down the alley was a visual delight - the highlight of my trip. It was beautiful, peaceful and just what I needed. A bit steep but if taken slow is a great walk

Such a beautiful road! Seeing it covered in snow with the snowflake lights is even more gorgeous. I even bought a picture from the information center's gift shop!

Well worth a visit - beautifully kept and interesting to walk down, or even more interesting to drive down!

What a great landmark this charming snake shaped street is. Brick and curves make it unforgettable. One year the bikers on RAGBRAI finished up there which was special. The street is tucked amid beautiful older historic homes and is in downtown Burlington, nestled between several historic churches and other landmarks. The mighty Mississippi River is just a few short blocks away, and no trip to Burlington would be complete without seeing this powerful part of nature.

Try driving down Snake Alley, a brick street built to help horses descend the hill in the 1800s. It was once deemed the most crooked street in the world - steep and crooked with several photo ops. Memorial Day weekend it serves as part of the Snake Alley Criterion bicycle races. In June the Snake Alley Art fair is part of the annual Steamboat Days celebration. Half a block away is Cobblestone Alley, a one block section of cobblestone street that you can walk down but not drive on.

Super-curvy, cobble-stone street. Fun to walk down and talk photos. A short experience but worth doing. Something the kids will certainly remember. Also worth roaming the nearby streets at the upper-end .. beautiful old homes.
