hawkeye buffalo ranch

We toured this farm as part of the regional "Farm Crawl"; Martha was an excellent guide and hostess. We especially enjoyed that, after our wagon trip to feed the bison, the kids and I could roam around the farmstead and play with Buddy the Giant Polar Bear Dog and various cats and chickens. We really felt at home, and it was a nice break from our usual small-town routine. Well worth the trip out to Fredericksburg, especially in combination with a visit to Engelbrecht Winery closer to town.

Very unique experience. Fed buffalo in the pasture from a wagon, and learned a great deal about them. Guides were very down to earth farm folk.

We took our two 2-year old boys there last summer and had a great time! The ranch is run by a wonderful family who truly love these animals and it comes through in your time with them. Can't wait to go back next summer!

I highly recommend this place to everyone! We have been there multiple times and enjoy it every time. Feeding the buffalo is really fun and you get to see the animals up close. The buffalo meat they sell is out of this world and the owner was very interesting. He talked about indians, buffalo, and all sorts of fun things, the kids were fascinated!

Interesting for a little while but after that kinda boring. The calves are cute but don't get to close. they are not cows.
