the little mermaid of kimballton

Mini duplicate of the Little Mermaid Statue in Copenhagen. Nice enough in small park, if in area worth a stop but not enough to merit visit to the area on its' own.

Right off the highway - there is the little mermaid - just made the day that much more interesting as we roamed the back roads between I80 and I29 - we went on to Manning to the German Bauernhaus after Kimballton.

I've been through this town 2x on Ragbrai in 2013 and 2012 and the cute little fountain is a highlight of this small Danish community. There are other attractions in the area, but not sure if the art museum or country store are open when Ragbrai isn't coming through. Good place to stop with the kids and let them run around and stretch their legs on the playground equipment behind the fountain.

Tiny Kimballton, Iowa is home to the Little Mermaid a replica of the one in Copenhagen. The fountain is clean and is on a nice, little pavilion. Right behind the fountain is a park with playground equipment. If you find yourself in the Kimballton area its worth stopping to have your picture taken in front of. We were on a motorcycle ride so stopped to stretch our legs and take a couple of pictures.

Nosotros hicimos una ruta en coche llamada Western Skies Scenic Byway, la cual empieza en Missoury Valley, sigue por Harlan y luego pasa por Kimballton, donde está una reproducción a pequeña escala de la Sirenita de Cophenage. La ruta es preciosa y los pueblecitos por los que pasa también. Vale la pena hacer la ruta, y para en Kimballton para ver la fuente con la Sirenita, entre muchos otros lugares.

Her er hyggeligt og der samles løbende ind til udvidelser. Man er f.eks ved at få støbt broncefigurer, der illistrerer H. C. Andersens eventyr der skal opstilles i parken.
