Despite the title of this review, there is a very yummy alternative to beer at this establishment...their delicious bloody mary's! They offer three versions: - 1st level: "Old School" which is served with a pickle. celery, and a skewer of 4-5 olives - 2nd level: same drink, served "fully loaded" with 13 accompaniments/garnishes including pickled okra, asparagus, baby corn, jalapeno, banana pepper, pepperoncino, pickle, celery, various stuffed olives, and beef stick along with a 5 ounce beer chaser - 3rd level, same as the 2nd only made with pepper vodka and comes with a 12 ounce beerMy drink was beyond good, and was a meal in itself! Their beer selection is really, really good. Tons of beers on tap including a ton of Iowa brews. They pair the draft selections with a good bottled offering. The atmosphere is really cool with exposed brick and beams. The service was good - we will be making the trip from Des Moines again!

Besides being located in a historical former Oskaloosa train station, the Peanut Pub has the largest selection of beers on tap and in bottles in Oskaloosa. Featuring a main level with Pinball machine and large outdoor smoking area. A second level upstairs also includes a second bar, a dartboard, and a great view of the twisted chimney as well as the entire bar below. A classy and friendly atmosphere, this is the place to go if you need to relax and have a drink.
