We traveled to Bear Lake today and it was awesome. The lake appears has gone down a bit because you could see where the lake once was found at. The lake had the same Caribbean turquoise blue water that is found all over the Caribbean. As well, the water was a lot cooler than the Caribbean water but that is alright being it was very warm today. We just waded in the water up to our knees. There is plenty of space for swimming and fishing. Now we were on the Idaho side of the lake, so it may not be as nicer as the Southern portion which is found in Utah. We also payed 5.00 day fee to be there which was fine. Now would I go back to it and I would say yes.
The turquoise color hits you long before you realize that is is quite the majestic lake in the midst of some beautiful mountains near the Oregon Trail. Such clear water too!
The white, sandy beach was nice. The kids loved playing in the sand and in the low water. You have to walk out quite a ways to have the water get deep. The boats kept their distance - mostly. We happened to be there on a weekend and the people were elbow to elbow. Still, it was fun. We brought an RV, which was nice to change in and because the bathrooms are quite a long ways away - the only reason this review gets a 4/5. It is only $5 for day pass, and worth it.
This lake is such a gem. The water is Caribbean blue, and very shallow so you can walk far out into it! Perfect day to lounge. The community is great, be sure to stop at one of the roadside shops for a raspberry shake!
When you first come over the crest of the mountain and gaze down at Bear Lake, the view is astounding. The lake is such a beautiful blue! You can boat, hike, stay at various lodging offerings, and eat famous Bear Lake raspberries. If you're coming up from the Utah side, be sure to stop at Ricks Springs on the way up, in Logan Canyon. The two places make a great pair of watery sites on a Sunday drive.
Never have seen this blue water in the mountains, breathtaking, looked at this for a good long while, found it by accident, traveling to Logan Utah must see
The lake is really pretty and the drive there is beautiful if you drive through Preston and through the canyon. Driving through Soda Springs is not a thrill though!
This is a good place for family reunion outings or to go with friends & family. Tour guided and very safe; worth the price.
beautiful lake with boat, atv, wave runners and great fishing
We go to the lake a few times each year and always leave wanting more. The North beach is great for families as it is shallow for a long way out.
We just got back from Paris, Idaho and loved it. Bear Lake is beautiful, although freezing year round. If you're going, be sure to stop and get a famous and ultra delicious Raspberry Shake at Quick and Tasty (the one with the Conestoga wagon and flag out front, and who always has the line. Open M-Sat). Also, don't miss the Montpelier Pioneer Museum, past Paris about 15-20 min. It's really fun to ATV around Paris Canyon. We loved hiking to the Paris Ice Caves (very cool in the Summer, too dangerous in much snow), four wheeling on Paris Flats, and visiting Minnetonka Caves (between Garden City and Paris). Very charming old lake towns! We loved it!
