This beach is away from most crowds, so if you have a board, like me, you can skim, boogie board or surf. In addition, they have bon fires some nights which is awesome, Downside for parents is no lifeguards and for adults-no alcohol! Other downside is parking! good luck with that!

It is a small beach area surrounded by small fun areas to eat and busy fun bars. The weekends tend to be very busy, however during the week it is wonderful fun filled great spot for families. The community has done different things to keep families coming, for instance they have movie night which is wildly popular as well as a Bon fire night, all free. Right next door to Dewey Beach is the most wonderful family Boardwalk in Rehiboth, less than a mile away. If you are young at heart and really want to be entertained come for a weekend, it is fun, busy and friendly. Yes the Police can be a bit of a nuisance so pay attention to the parking rules as well as the rules of the town. I have been to many places trying to find a beach I enjoy more than Dewey Beach and I am always drawn back to it. The beaches are exceptionally clean the water is always rated having the cleanest waters of the Delaware beaches. Give it a try!!

I've been to Dewey Beach many times over the past ten years. It's a small beach town with a handful of fun bars to enjoy in the summer. Don't go here though, unless you have money to burn on on bogus parking tickets and don't mind a police department that abuses their power. After my last visit here I will never be returning. I purchashed and prominently displayed my outrageously priced $30 for 48 hour parking pass. I never received a parking ticket during my visit because I was parked legally with my pass visable. In November I received in the mail a notice that I need to immediately send payment for my unpaid $125 parking ticket. I called the department to avoid the three hour drive and resolve the issue over the phone with no luck. The female officer on the phone was rude and accusatory toward me. I had no choice but to drive the three hours to appear in traffic court and plead my case. That was a complete waste of time. There were about fifteen people in front of me and every single person walked out only to immediately pay their fine. I knew then that this was pointless, but attempted anyway to calmly and rationally explain to the judge that there was never a ticket on my car and that there would have been no reason for their to be a ticket as I still had my pass from that day which was valid at the time the supposed ticket was issued. The judge proclaimed that I must have forgotten to pay my ticket, and that my window may have been down causing my pass to blow away. I would have fought this ticket in August had I received one, I NEVER leave my car windows down, my pass did not blow away because I was holding it in my hand in the courtroom and I resent Judge Ester's casual assumptions about me and how I live my life. The rude officer of the phone wrote to the that I was "nasty", most likely because I asked to speak to her supervisor but was refused. After asking around I have heard many similar stories of abuse of power by the Dewey Beach Police Department. I am now convinced that they are corrupt and clearly just looking to make money off out of state visitors. I will never be returning and I don't suggest any one else visit either. The beach is also no good for swimming or boogie boarding due to the steep shelf drop off and small violent waves.

Grew up on Rodney Street as a child and spent 25 summers at Dewey Beach. The beaches are beautiful and the locals are friendly. Excellent restaurants and beach activities for all ages! Here's to a BIG HUG all the way from San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.

I came to Dewey in my early twenties for fun. Now i come for fun in my 40's and my kids love it too. I love it so much that i bought a beach house of my own. It is so nice to see how Dewey has come along and made it a great beach town for not only adult fun but family fun as well. Every Monday at dusk you will see hundreds of families flocking to the beach toting beach chairs, coolers and kids.... the beach patrol sets up a monster movie screen and plays a movie for families to enjoy. Wednesday is family bonfire night on the beach and once again come dusk you will see hundreds of families flocking to the sandy beach, but this time toting not only chairs and kids but all the fixings for smores.Certain days of the week one of the local surf shops has free clinics to teach kids how to skimboard and all day long you will find tons of families enjoying one of the top rated and cleanest beaches on the east coast. On the other side of the road, you will find several beach bars and restaurants that boast live music 12 hrs a day on weekends and evenings on weekdays. On the weekends, you will see young professionals flock to the town to enjoy the live music and act like kids. Just about every weekend in the summer there is some kind of event that attracts adults of every age, whether 25 or 55, to come play and enjoy all that this small beach town has to offer! Come Sunday they leave and monday thru friday the family meter goes up!One of the best thing about Dewey is that you can park your car and not move it till you leave. Everything is within walking distance and if you want to venture to the Rehoboth board walk to enjoy the tons of restaurants and Playland, well its just a Jolley Trolley away! For $2.50, one way, you can hop on a trolley that comes around every 15 minutes.Dewey is NOT the "adults only party town" it once had been..... those people grew up and now you will find a nice balance of adult and family fun in this little beach town.I love this town so much so that i bought a few properties to rent out to people that would like to come see what this town has to offer. Your welcome to email me w questions or if you would like to rent one of our properties.Come get your toes sandy in Dewey!

I've been going to DE beaches since I was 9. My parents had a place for years, until they passed. I started taking my family 4 years ago to Dewey. The beaches are clean and FREE (unlike Jersey). No need for a car once you arrive, you can walk the entire town of Dewey or jump the trolley to Rehoboth. My grandson loved the trolley so much he cried when we got off. Yes Dewey has a lot of bars but don't let it sway you from visiting with family or children. We stay on Clayton St and never hear the bar noise. The Starboard is a great place for breakfast, cheap and big portions, awesome Sunday bloody mary bar. Hammerheads has good/reasonable food too. The boardwalk won't put you in debt, games and rides are priced for families. The parking meters are expensive another good reason to take the trolley to town. Lots in the area to visit, Lewes, Bethany Beach and OC MD short drive. If you're a shopper, tons of outlets.

I have never been to Dewey during "the season". I always go for the Greyhounds Reach The Beach event in October. This year was my 16th year and I LOVE it! Dewey is a quiet little beach town after all the summer revelers have cleared out and I love the quiet solitude of the sleepy little off-season place. Well worth the visit! And if you're looking for something to do besides sitting on the beach quietly reading a book or enjoying the sea air, there are a lot of things to do in the neighboring Rehoboth Beach too all year long! Check it out. You won't be sorry you did!

Beach is a short walk from the Atlantic Oceanside Motel. Bags are supplied for clean up and our dog loved it.

Nice beach. Clean and quiet. Water tends to be more gentle than other beaches. There is no boardwalk or anywhere in the vicinity to get food, so its best you pack something to eat and drink. Good for a quiet and relaxing day with family or friends.

Dewey Beach is a clean fun beach ! Very close to the Beach House where we stayed. Everyone is very friendly and pleasant who leaves or stays there.

This is a beach with beach houses along the beach. There is no boardwalk or shopping at Dewey Beach. Dogs are required to have a Dewey Beach dog license all year round. Although I have been there in April and October, I haven't seen a cop checking for Dewey Dog license, yet. There is a lot of beach accesses from the main street. It is about 2 miles South of Rehoboth Beach. The beach is very clean. Because I go during off season, it is not crowded at all. It seems that most people go to Rehoboth Beach where there is more to do. Plus if you need to go to the restroom on Dewey, you will need to find a store, restaurant, hotel. I didn't see any public restroom.

This beach was very clean and considering it was AFTER Labor Day, the beach was very crowded. I guess they were expecting this because there were lifeguards still on duty. Being in walking distance of our hotel (Hyatt House) wasn't bad either!
