If you visit Wilmington try to book a concert at the Grand Opera House. What a beautiful building with no bad seats. I have never had a bad experience.

First time trying this location, first time trying downtown Wilmington for anything. The Grand is a wonderful music venue perfect size for ashow the place is beautiful, the sound is solid seats all look good . And the staff is ridiculously gracious and helpful. Will definitely keep an eye out for who is playing here in the future. Note people complain about area did not see a problem parked at double tree two block walk was fine. Second note saw Gaelic Storm really good fun Irish band check them out if you can.

I went there for The Sing-Off live performance. It's nice. There are 2 entrances, one on King St and another on Market St. Double Tree Hotel is conveniently located nearby.

My daughter and I attended a concert here and it was great!!The staff is very friendly and the venue was very nice. Very convienent to restaurants. Would definetly go here again.

Such a little gem of a place. Mrs. M and I have seen several concerts here and we always have a wonderful time. The volunteers are friendly and everywhere you look you meet a couple more. Here's a tip, make a dinner reservation at Pochi's and have a great meal before the show. It's only two blocks away. Not much going on in Wilmington after dark, but these two places are worth the trip.

Secreted away in an upper gallery of the opera house, is an exquisite display of Etruscan and Greco Roman art recovered by Italy's version of the FBI. For the past 100 years, The GUARDIA DI FINANZA ART RECOVERY TEAM has worked tirelessly to track down these incredibly delicate and intricately designed pieces - statuary, pottery, jewelry, household items - many of which were stolen from graves, apprehended from smugglers or identified at auction houses. A docent guides you through the exhibit, providing fascinating background information. Interestingly, a few of the items were well-executes fakes! Small video areas allow you to view specific seizures at see the team at work. Amazingly, this is the first time the items have been permitted to leave Italy and the Grand Opera House is the official first stop of the US tour. Tickets must be purchased to gain entry, but reservations did not appear to be a necessity. We were given as much time as we wanted to browse and ask questions. If your guard offers to you the rest of this historic building, I would definitely accept the offer. My friend I enjoyed seeing the current uses, preserved portions and magnificent concert halls. The exhibit only remains through Dec. 21 - so you better hurry!

This is an old venue. Seats are old and somewhat narrow. We sat in row A. Had a great view of the stage and the performers, just a bit crowded. People were allowed to bring drinks into the viewing area.. there were several people around us that were a bit tipsy, and the smell of alcohol was prevalent. Lewis was terrific; however, the stage was dark and dismal. Lots of volunteer ushers to assist. No food except snacks available and only 1 restaurant Chelsey's Tavern nearby so do not expect to have dinner and a show.. the tavern was extremely crowded. no a bad place, just old and in need of renovation.

It was an email from VisitWilmingtonDE.com that prompted a six-day trip to this area. The email was about the special exhibit “Treasures & Tales of Italy’s Art Recovery Team” and promised tales of ruthless grave-robbers, high-tech counterfeiters, international smuggling from Italy to London’s famous auction houses, and some of the world’s finest art museums involved with art dating back to the time of the Etruscans. This would be the only showing in the United Sates and only from October 3rd to December 21st. It was presented by the International Council of Delaware and held at the Grand Opera House. I went on a Saturday and arrived just before the noontime opening. It turned out to be a well-timed visit for me and four folks from New Jersey. An Italian professor was meeting a group of archaeology students from nearby West Chester University along with their professor for a private tour. We were allowed to join the group. The exhibition was upstairs in a secured gallery under armed guard. The tour was very interesting. Many of the pieces were real, but there were also many counterfeits. On several occasions, we were asked to guess: real or fake?One tale was of a potter who had a professional radiologist as his partner in crime. He’d make the pottery, and the radiologist would “age” it with radiation. They were managing to fool even the art experts at the auction houses and museums. But, with the amount of pottery coming up for auction, the Art Recovery Team became suspicious. The potter was followed. One night, he and his partner were caught in the act radiating new pottery. Game over! One outstanding highlight of this exhibition was "Hercules and Hydra," one of only the few surviving neck-amphora attributed to Lysippides, the famed Greek painter of the 6th Century BC, whose art was traded throughout Italy for small fortunes.Each ancient ceramic, mosaic, pieces of jewelry, and statue had a story not only of the time of its creation but also of its theft and recovery by the unrelenting agents of the Gruppo Tutela Patrimonio Archeologico (Protection of Archaeological Heritage Group), the Art Recovery Team group of the Guardia di Finanza (Guard of Finance) which is Italy's national law enforcement agency tasked with fighting financial crime and recovering stolen art and artifacts.Seeing the priceless pieces in this exhibition was well worth the special trip Wilmington. The exhibition lived up to the expectations built up by the advance publicity. Of course, there were other attractions in Delaware and Maryland I wanted to see during the height of fall foliage season, so the trip went together nicely. I highly recommend this exhibit for those who can get there before it ends on December 21st. It is well worth the $15.00 adult admission.The Grand Opera House is wheelchair accessible. There's an elevator to get up to the second floor gallery. Across from the Grand Opera House is Olympic Subs, Steaks & Deli which is open from 7:45 AM to 5:30 PM weekdays, 7:45 AM to 6:30 PM on Friday, and 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM on Saturday. It is closed on Sundays. It’s one of those places that doesn’t look like much but has good food. It's a very good place to have lunch. Very friendly Staff! Everyone was very sweet and helpful. Smaller inside than expected but Very Nice & Clean. Wish the seats had more leg room and I'm only 5'6". We will return to see more concerts if it's one we want to see.

attended a concert in the baby grand..the orchestra sized hall..the building itself is magnificent..hard to believe it has stood so long...the visual view matched the acoustics...the intimacy of the atmosphere enhanced the sounds of the musician's on stage...no neck craning...seats are situated so everyone has a good view...guests came into the theater carrying cups...not restricted to the lobby or bar area....lovely, lovely place...full of beauty...and grace

All seats seem to have a great view of the stage. The seats are comfortable; a little more room then some theaters.Staff was friendly. There a several beverage/bar stations; reasonably priced & drinks are allowed in the theater.Park at the double tree hotel for only $3!

There are no bad seats in this opera house. Enjoyed this acappella group on PBS television and jumped at the chance to see them in person. Sold out show. The acoustics are fabulous and the show fantastic.

It was just an average place but seating was quite comfortable and the place was clean especially the restrooms. Our only complaint was that due to another function going on we were not permitted to exit out the rear door , which we came in through and which was right across from our hotel; so we had to walk around the block. That also cut us off from the lounge where we would have liked a glass of wine.

There is really no bad seat in the venue. Small and quaint with excellent acoustics. Very personable. Staff is very nice and helpful
