double arch

We hiked up the Double Arch right after our hike to the Delicate Arch. This trail was much less crowded and just as beautiful. We were lucky enough to visit when the sun was going down, making for some really cool images/shadows.

Back in the Windows section stands a grand champion - Double Arch. The trail is easy and it takes about 15 minutes to get back to this amazingly complex arch - you have to see it to believe it. If you have limited time in the park, I think this is a "must see" and highly recommend it. At sunset the arch glows a bright orange and is simply spectacular!

Others are right, don't overlook this when visiting Windows...its much more impressive once you get up into it. It was fun to climb and explore and experiment with the different angles for photographs. We lingered here because it provided some nice shade on a hot summer day!

It doesn't look it from the parking lot but this is very worth the hike and provides fabulous close photo opportunities -- both posed photos of people and up close great views of the arch.

You can good photos here. The hike is nothing. Wait for the proper light, which is late in the day. It's next to the windows and Turret arch.

The double arch is easy to see from the parking lot/road, but worth parking, getting out and walking up to see them up close. They are even more fun to photograph them if you get just the right angle. Walking on the red rocks is a little surreal, and it's a fun super-mini-hike up to stand right underneath them. Bonus is that you get a little bit of shade from the harsh desert sun! Definite do-not-miss!

This was a nice and easy hike. It was well worth getting a closer view of the arches. This is very close to the Window Arch.

You stand and wonder at the erosion that caused this double arch formation. From the car park you can also access the windows arches which are 'over the road'

Can't missing seeing Double Arch. It is a very short walk from the parking area (.5 miles round trip) and you can walk around in the arch. It is right by the Windows Trail (at the other end of the parking lot) and there are a lot of people around because of the short/easy hike. Don't miss this as it is beautiful.

Perfect to stand beneath and get that memorable photo! Or just gaze and contemplate the power of nature!! This is really quite a large, stunning formation.

In and of itself, Double Arch is another of the uniquely beautiful land forms in Arches National Park, especially when the sunrise changes the colors and shadows by the minute. But--if you happen to be there at the right time, like late October at sunrise, there is another surprise off to the right. A small hole in the rock, one that will be an arch in a few million years perhaps, glistens like the ceiling of Mesa Arch as the sun blazes through. And, if you are also at the right angle, you would swear that a large stone carving of Paul Bunyan is there! I've included a photo to prove my point.

At first as you begin the walk to see these arches all you can see is one. You need to get close to see the double arch. Once there you notice all these people sitting up there for photographs.

So I stumbled onto the Double Arch bye parking at a pull off way before the actual parking area. I hiked out to the back arch and then around the rocks to see that it was the Double Arch. I had to set my tripod up and wait for quite sometime before the shot was clear of any other people. This is a very stunning place, and the Double Arch is incredible!

This is one of the best, and popular, ones in the park. The double arch is visible from the parking lot (limited spaces) and is grand in size and sight. If you want a people free picture visit early or late as it gets busy.

I thought these arches were spectacular. HUGE. Don't miss these and the nearby Windows arches. A lot to see with minimal hiking. Only Delicate was a better arch. Don't miss this!
