Awesome snow day with Recreation Ventures in Woodland, UT. Visiting from out of state, my friends and I decided to try something new. Snowmobiling through the pristine Unita National Forest was mindblowing and unforgettable. Recreation Ventures organized a guided tour with simple instructions on how to ride the snowmobiles we were off. The best day ever for an outdoor enthusiast.

My 2 friends and I were in the Park City area and heard about Recreation Ventures from a local. We decided to try it out, since 1 of my friends had never been snowmobiling before. The entire adventure was amazing! We went to the shop which is a neat, old store front and got all set up with boots/helmets. The owner and our tour guide Brad was very nice and took us right to the trail head where he unloaded the snowmobiles in no time and we were on our way into a winter wonderland! The area was so peaceful with tons of snow. He took us to a great look-out point with gorgeous views. I highly recommend the guided tour because I don't know how I would have found my way (not the best with directions haha). Definitely a trip I will never forget!

My husband and I and another couple traveled to Park City for skiing, and decided to take a day trip to snowmobile. I found a $20 discount on the VisitParkCity.com site for Recreation Ventures, so we booked with them. We opted for the 2 hour guided tour, which was $110/person + tax (plus gratuity) after the coupon. None of us had ever snowmobiled before, though we all own jet skis, which we found to be very similar. It was about a 25 minute ride from our house in Historical Park City to the Recreation Ventures site off Hwy 35. It was a beautiful spring day (in the high 50s) and we were skeptical that there'd be enough snow on the ground nearby to snowmobile, but the owner assured us there was. He met us 8:15am and got us fitted with our helmets and boots ($5 extra, but well worth it). He brought along his dog, Judy, who was as friendly as she was enthusiastic. Once we signed the waivers and paid, we all drove up to the Uinta National Forest. Where, I'm glad to report, there was plenty of snow!After they unloaded the vehicles (plus one to spare, thankfully!), we got an incredibly brief intro to our snowmobiles ("This is the accelerator; this is the brake"), then we were off! Wow! We had more fun than humans should be allowed! The national park was gorgeous and the snowmobiles were awesome. We went really fast right out of the gate, but it was pretty straight, and the terrain pretty easy. I was glad to have use of a brake, though, which is something jet skis don't have. We stopped a few times to get our picture taken, but mostly we just navigated trails in the beginning.Bo then took us to the crest of the mountain where the views were outstanding. Nearby was a "bowl," where we were given as much time as we wanted to play around. It was nice to be given some space to familiarize ourselves with the vehicles, and to not have to stick to a trail. We buzzed around for about 20 minutes or so.Afterward, he took us onto some more challenging trails and one really steep hill. We never tipped over, though there was one narrow pass where I thought I might. Then we headed back to the parking lot via a closed road, that allowed us to go full throttle. My only caution is that if you're not used to jet skis or snowmobiles, there wasn't much instruction. I assume Bo uses an "as needed" approach, and would have slowed down or provided more instruction, as required.2 hours was the perfect amount of time, in my opinion. We never felt rushed and it seemed to last a long time. I'm not a skier, so I can say that this was by far the most fun I had in Park City. And it was very reasonable, even before the discount! I highly recommend it. P.S. There was a restroom in the parking lot. I'd recommend you use it before you leave if you had 3 cups of coffee that morning.
