. . . standing outside one very cold night for over an hour in February, 2015, to get into the Tabernacle, gave me an appreciation for venues with clear entrance/exits plans that enable an audience to enjoy a concert without frostbite!

It was my second visit to SLC. And, the way I see it, if you one is there the first thing to be done is to attend a rehearsal or a concert of that marvelous choir - real gem of SLC community. I went to a Sunday concert and enjoyed every minute of it. Come early if you can, since they actually do an entire program prior to the formal start time of concerts/live time

The best time to visit - when the tabernacle choir is playing ... and grand architecture and the resonating music blends in perfectly !

Loved the atmosphere here. Went to "Music and the Spoken Word" on a Sunday morning--the choir and orchestra are so professional and the singing so beautiful. Extraordinary grounds.

Saw the Mormon Tabernacle Choir perform here and it was a wonderful experience! A unique space with neat lighting behind a spectacular organ. Seeing/hearing the choir perform in that space was a truly interesting experience!

I had the pleasure of hearing several wonderful choral concerts in this building during the ACDA National Conference. It's hard to believe that you are in a building that dates to the 1860s--the way in which it was constructed is not only ahead of its time and visually impressive, but makes for excellent acoustics. One of the concerts I attended featured several of my students singing in a national honor choir, and I will never forget how beautiful their voices sounded in that space. But it is the Mormon Tabernacle Choir that this building was constructed for, and hearing them should top your reasons for visiting. If you don't hear their world-class choir and orchestra, under the baton of the energetic duo of Mack Wilberg and Brian Murphy perform here, then you are truly missing out. What a wonderfully nuanced, gorgeous choral sound, such a surprise for a choir with 400+ members. Bravo to them and to this building!

This is the older version of the hall where the Mormon Tabernacle Choir performs. I have seen them on television many times, but I never realized there are TWO halls like this. This is the older hall, probably built around a century ago. The LDS Conference Center (built in 2000) is much nicer and updated. Still, the Tabernacle is a nice hall and still interesting to see.

Beautiful venue, great acoustics. Only complaint would be that they made convention guests visit the neighboring building to use the restroom, but I suppose the venue isn't set up to handle that many guests.

The organ is fascinating just to look at, never mind listening to it! We wished we had been there earlier on that Sunday to hear the choir, but were not available when they performed at 9:30 AM.

You can stroll in and check out this famous TV broadcast spot. There are even performances in the mid-day that are worth scheduling for.

Boy, this building is amazing. I will always remember the amazing acoustics. Make sure you get a tour and ask if they can do the "pin drop" demonstration.

I have to say that I found The Tabernacle to be a little on the boring side and not that impressive when you have toured some of the great church cathedrals around the world. To me it really was an old outdated building....sorry...not trying to upset anyone's religion....just wasn't my cup of tea.

I visited the Mormon Tabernacle to hear the choir rehearse on Thursday night, and then I returned for the live radio broadcast on Sunday morning. I have heard the choir on TV, but to actually see the choir, and hear their voices live was an experience that was amazing.

I walked around Temple Square last night (Thursday). They were having practice, the Elders were so nice and informative. The choir sounded amazing - and director was hilarious in giving feedback to the members. I was very lucky to have a friend who is LDS and she was very informative as well, however there are many Elders/volunteers that will answer questions. The orchestra was practicing as well. I would highly recommend you visit this place, and just sit back and enjoy the music and atmosphere. I would go again tonight if they were having practice again. The grounds around this place was very pleasant. I am marking this as 1-2 hours only b/c I would love to sit and listen - however, you can just pop in and enjoy 20-30 minutes as well
