We are also very disappointed that the roof is not in the current design, but we have not given up on it. Thanks for letting us know how important it is to you.
I really liked the feel of being in a real Shakespearean Theater. The stage is visible from everywhere I have sat. Sometimes it's a little cold though, since it is outside, so bring a jacket.
Thanks for your comments. We are really excited about the new Beverley Taylor Sorenson Center for the Arts, which you mentioned. It is slated to be ready to go for our 2016 season, and it will include a new outdoor Shakespearean theater, SUMA (the Southern Utah Museum of Art), and a smaller performance space, in addition to the current Randall L. Jones Theater.
This theater is an open-air theater on SUU's campus. It's beautiful, and every seat in there is a good seat. It's fun to see a Shakespeare play in general, but it's an experience to see Shakespeare's plays in a replica theater. Make sure to check the weather and dress appropriately.
We are frequent visitors to this venue and have seldom been disappointed. High quality productions with beautiful costumes and precise diction make Shakespeare accessible. The actors are excellent and manage to convey as much with body language and expression as with the words of "The Bard."The Green Show, play orientations and other extra lectures and tours, as well as online resources, make the experience a delight. The Gifte Shoppe is also worth a visit.
saw Measure for Measure---i admit not being a Shakespeare fan, so the show itself certainly wasn't memorable for myself, but the atmosphere is still worth the price of a ticket
We saw two plays in this theater and loved our experience with both. One was a serious historical drama and the other a light comedy. The theater design allowed the audience and actors to interact. We had "premier" seats for one performance and the last row up top for the other. We bought our tickets late for the "up top" performance so we had to take what we could get and what we could get was bench seating. The last row in the center section of the balcony is a bench that runs along the back rather than separate seats. The bench was not quite wide enough to be comfortable but the full stage was visible and the play was so good we didn't mind. Bring a blanket or pillow to sit on and your experience will be that much the better.
I chose plays in this theatre as this theatre will be closed after the 2015 season. A new building is being constructed and will replace this theatre.
Experience Shakespeare in one of the most authentic period theatres in the world. Plays are very well produced. There are also seminars and other events that are put on in the venue. Concessions are available within 20 yards if you need a coffee or a snack.
These performances are amazing. Anyone who has the chance should do whatever it takes to get there. You will be talking about it for years.
Great show. I love this theatre. And, the shows are always well done. One more year in the Adams, and they will have a new outdoor theatre available and the Adams will be - well they don't know yet. I have been here several years since I was young, and still love it.
This intimate theater is a fun outdoor experience with a Green Show leading up to the play. Adams is being replaced with a new theater, so don't miss out on experiencing the original.
The Adams is first choice on warm summer evenings. This year Comedy of Errors is an outstanding performance, best of all 6 plays for me.
This small outdoor theater on the SUU campus is modeled after the original Globe, but lacking the standing-room area in front of the stage for the lower classes. The casts, the staff, and the volunteers are uniformly excellent. Each play has an alternate indoor venue should the weather prove to be a problem, but we've never had anything but excellent evenings during our visits. The only issue is the apparent need for some helicopter service to buzz the area at just about the mid-point of the plays we've seen here.
It was a great surprise to be in this intimate theater and see Shakespeare. it was my first time to such an event and what a great experience.
