I deem it as being lucky having to travel as much as I do. I have taken in model train exhibitsfrom coast to coast. This one is wonderfully done. The different gauges on separate layoutsare great. As with other reviewers, I marvel at all of the work that went into these displays. If looking via a gps you will probably have a bit of a problem. Remember that the Subway isinside an enclosed mall. A telephone call to the Club's number will probably be of help.As said, worth the hunt.
Glad you enjoyed your visit. Come back again. We're always adding.
We are so happy to hear you loved our display. Be sure and return if you're in the area as we are always expanding and adding to our exhibit.
We are always thrilled to hear from people who enjoy our exhibit. I'm sure you will be pleased to know we are now open six days per week, every day except Monday. Hours are generally noon to four though hours may be longer on weekends, holidays or during a busy season. Please check our web site http://www.crossvillemodelrrclub.org/ for current hours.
Whether you are "into" model trains or not, it is something different to do and just to appreciate the incredible amount of work that goes into making these displays is more than worth your while. they have a layout of every scale of train that most would be familiar with and lots of subtle things in each display to look for. Also, pushing the "special" buttons for interactive things with the layouts is fun as well. The folks that are there will answer or try to answer any question you might have. All locals that have poured their hearts and souls into these displays! No cost at all. If you just happen to notice the big, glass, donation jar, they will thank you for helping them pay the rent. space in a mall cannot be cheap and they depend on donations to remain there. Every little bit helps. They are open 6 days a week. I believe they are closed Mondays. This is a great place to bring back the "kid" in you!
My husband & I stopped in while shopping Crossville's outlet mall - it's located inside. There are a number of difference size/scale trains in large settings with period vehicles, buildings, etc. It's free, but has a donation jar on the desk. Nice to see something like this being kept going. Hope everyone who visits the mall will stop by & make a contribution. I don't think a person in a wheelchair would be able to see the sets all that well since they're elevated, but there is a platform for children to stand on. Mall includes a couple of restaurants, a coffee shop, & public rest rooms.
Whether you love trains, tiny towns or just admiring the craftsmanship of these incredible (multi-size) railroad exhibits... it has something for everyone! You'll find yourself saying, "oh look at this..." "oh look at that..." it is fun for all ages. There is no admission but donations are encouraged for the support of the exhibit. It is really, really cool! Take a few minutes and stop on in!
If you like all things train, this is the place for you.Train enthusiasts occupy a large space at the mall and have filled it with all types of trains and scenes. There is always someone there to share enthusiastically and to answer questions.Great to visit when someone is shopping too.Check the times since they're not always open. Last time we visited, they were open Fridays and Saturdays. It's free but they accept donations to help them with the rent.Well worth seeing
Was in crossville to visit my grandma and googled places to take my children on a budget and to my surprise I got more than I ask for! Took my family to the outlet mall and for NO ADMISSION my kids had the best time seeing hundreds of trains little towns and scenic terrains. A man named Jim was working he was so sweet and truly proud of this exibit. He even allowed me to take his picture with my boys. I will be back every time I am in crossville and can't wait for my husband to be able to see this. Love it
These guys are really nice to young and old alike. They have some funny displays, but you have to search for them. Like a donut shop by the police station, or the Hoffa Cement plant, with a body in the hopper etc. Okay, I didn't say every display was tasteful. But the "adult" displays are very subtle and the kids won't get it. Look for the presidential limousine, for example. Don't forget to leave a donation! They won't ask, but it is the right thing to do.
We located the store which is inside the outlet mall building, that threw me. Forever the exhibits are free to see and no nice and neat at each setting. I'd recommend to see if you're in the area.
If you like model trains, be sure to check out this exhibit in the Outlet Mall. The hours of operation are a little quirky so check out their website in advance.
My little boy just loves it here we try and go every little bit. Everyone is super nice and sweet to all the kids coming in
We were walking the mall and found this exhibit. Many different sized train exhibits and all completely done. This was an excellent display and layout. At one layout there was an engineer who was showing a young boy about 8 years old, how everything works. There were buttons you could push to make different parts of the exhibit work ..ferris wheel go round, she'll station open garage door and a car go in and out etc. It was quite pleasurable Admission is free. Donations are voluntary.
Worth the trip if you can appreciate the thousands of hours it has taken for the volunteers to put this display together!!
