the miner's circle - mine explosion graves

Site of the fifth worse mining accident in the United States. Located behind the Clear Branch Baptist Church. Marked by a large monument surrounded by circles of the tomb stones of 184 of the 214 miners who lost their lives on May 19, 1902. The explosion kill every adult male in the town but three. It was very sad but interesting, worth a quick stop to see.
