This spot is a bit hidden but when you get there you will be like OMG. It is an awesome outdoor stage. I love sitting in the lawn listening to live music. This spot hosts some really dope artists. I love it
Great place to see a show and enjoy the great outdoors right in the heart of midtown Memphis! Located in Overton Park along with the Memphis Zoo, Brooks Museum and Memphis College of Art.
Most of the concerts are free or inexpensive to attend. Levitt Shell is located in beautiful Overton Park. It is a great place to bring small children, because they can are not confined to seats. You bring your own chairs, blankets and coolers.
Nice, not very interesting now the rainbow has gone and seating on the grass. Only went because of Elvis's connection, otherwise it is just a stage with grass to sit on, although I am sure it would be better if there was a concert to see.
This fees like a classic midtown venue offering a wide variety of artists during the free concert series. Bring a blanket and cooler with friends and enjoy.
Okay, so its just a shell! It costs nothing to visit, there's nothing there other than the auditorium (unless they're hosting a concert when you visit). What you get is a chance to say you've seen the actual stage where legends like Cash and Elvis Presley once performed! Its not everyone's idea of an attraction but its on the official sightseeing tour info!
52 Free concerts a year! How can this not be awesome??? Bring you lawn chair and enjoy the music. Like sitting in your backyard with a live band playing!
We visited the Levitt with a tour guide who told us the story of Elvis' first performance there, opening at the Hillbilly Hoedown. If you weren't with a tour guide or had any information, I don't know if you would know the significance of it or not. I don't think the bathrooms were unlocked because there wasn't a concert or anything going on. We just went, took a picture and moved on. But still, it's interesting to picture that first concert and the girls going crazy! You need to stop by for the photo op.
Fantastic to see where the young Elvis Presley used to perform. You can feel the history of the place and you wish you had been there then to see it all happening!!
LOVE that this site has been renovated and is in use again. There's a great family atmosphere here. It is a great place to go and see music with the family and friends. The diversity of shows here is great, and it's nice that you can bring a picnic along if desired. Really wonderful asset to midtown Memphis - one of the great things going on in this wonderful city!
It's iconic and a great venue. They also offer free concerts. What could be better? Definitely check it out!
The concerts at the Levitt Shell are one of my favorite summer and fall activities. Admission is free. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and some cash to enjoy food truck cuisine and listen to a great concert.
Duncan Williams has supported this project with great generosity t the benefit of the community. You will enjoy this historic Memphis gem and outdoor concert venue.
We went to see the Memphis Dawls on a Friday night in September. We sat on the lawn and enjoyed a fun and relaxing evening of music.
My wife and I visited Memphis for the weekend. Looking up things to do I found Overton Park and Levitt Shell. We had never been there visiting before so we decided to check it out Saturday evening. The stage is a seashell shape and it looks out to a grassy hill where everyone sits and enjoys. You bring your own chairs or blanket and you are allowed to bring in your own food and drinks. They also have food and drink vendors as well, but not a lot to choose from. They were having a 2014 Free Music Concert Series and The Bluff City Jazz Project was playing. This is not really my choice for music, but they were good and it was fun and relaxing. We also enjoyed watching families with young children laughing and playing. It is a very laid back atmosphere. If you are looking for something fun to do I would recommend Levitt Shell. I believe they have something going on all the time. They even have big name concerts from time to time so check their calendar.
