We took our 4 year old here and he had fun. He especially liked the space ship and the big bubbles. The Planetarium was small and crowded. There are no seats in the Planetarium, everyone just sits in the floor. They had a 3-D printer going making the Sunsphere, and that was interesting to watch. You can also book birthday parties here.
It was ok. Good place to go if you have a few kids & don't have anything to do for the day. My kid enjoyed the legod.
Was not very impressed. Seemed very scattered/messy, which I understand that is what kids do, but it was not very inviting. Fortunately inexpensive enough, so it wasn't a PAINFUL disappointment. My kids were ready to go within 10 minutes of getting there.
My kids beg to go to the muse. There are so many things for each my 2 yo and 7 yo to do. They both love the space ship. My 7 yo builds legos and races them. My 2 yo builds tracks with the huge blocks. They both love it all..... Bubble area, sewing/clothes making, music, goofy golf, circus mirrors, train tables, and the list goes on and on and on and on.
My grandsons 6 & 7 always enjoy their trip to The Muse especially on nice days when they can enjoy the playground. Inexpensive and fun place for imaginations to run wild!
We took our grandchildren here again this year during their holiday visit to TN. They thoroughly enjoyed the many interactive exhibits. Lots of fun and we will return in August during their next visit.
We visited The Muse of Knoxville- Discovery Center because we were looking for something to do on a rainy day. While the building is relatively small there’s certainly a nice variety of things for kids to play with and explore. We visited on a weekday and it was relatively early so there were not a lot of visitors at the time. I would say this is ideal for kids between 3-8. There are a few options for toddlers and maybe older kids would be interested in the arts & crafts section. The admission prices were not very expensive, however they do charge extra if you want to see the show in the planetarium. I would say you could spend at least an hour there before the kids get bored.
Was looking for something fun and engaging with 10 year old. She had a great time needing more time than I planned!
This fascinating science center is small but promises an exciting time for kids of all ages. It has interactive exhibits involving technology, geology and aerospace designs to name a few. We took two of our grandchildren this summer and they had a great time. The price is really reasonable.
We bought tickets for here through Half Off Depot (or Groupon? I can't remember).. Anyways, we decided to go one day because we had nothing else to do. The kids were very excited to go but once we got there they were not impressed. They got bored very easily and kept asking if that was all they had. I was hoping to make this a new place for us to go and play but neither kid (11 and 3) want to go back.
We took our 1 year old and this was our first time visiting. Our daughter (and us) had a great time. So many different fun learning activities for kids of all ages. They had live experiments (shooting watermelon, diet coke and mentos, foam). Definitely will be going back.
We have three kids from teenager to toddler. All of them love this place. It's clean it's fun and most importantly it's hands on. By the time we leave I'm worn out from chasing the toddler around but it's worth it! We all have a blast every time we go!
We were on our way to the Aquarium in Gatlinburg when I suggested we stop here when I saw a billboard advertisement. It is a really fun play area for kids. A lot of the parents were impatient and unimpressed but through the eyes of the kids it was a fun place to build things and learn. They LOVED it!! My kids said it was more fun than going to the aquarium and paying the extra $2 to see the planetarium exhibit was well worth it. The staff was awesome and gave ideas of what to build. I really think this place is a undiscovered Gem in Knoxville. We have been going to the Knoxville Zoo for years and never noticed this building until the billboard advertisement. Don't go in snobby with your nose up thinking it's a huge museum its not. It is a quaint place for kids to enjoy their time away from the Iphones and Ipads that kill their brain cells. They will love it if you allow them the time to enjoy the area. My girls were 9 and 5 years old.
My kids had a great time at the newly remodeled space. There were tons of hands on activities for them to do. We will definitely be going back soon.
The Center has just undergone a much needed facelift. It is now a cheery, bright, clean, fun place for kids to explore science and art. My 9 year old daughter has visited the Planetarium and has a great experience every time. Saturday, we attended the Mad Scientist event had were absolutely amazed at the engaging hands-on activities and new technology on display. If you haven't been in a while, then you need to go back and check out the recent changes. (Although, my kiddos are too old for it now, I did love the renewed toddler area.)
