There is a lot of fun to be had here, from the park it's self to the water fountains fun for the whole family & a great place for a picnic also.
The World's Fair Park is a nice place to spend a relaxing afternoon. The park is not very big , but it is in close proximity to the Convention Center, Musuem of Art, and the Veterans Memorial. The Sun Sphere is also in the park. The park is clean and has a large open area that can used for kite flying or playing with a frisbee. There were a lot of joggers taking advantage of the nice weather on the evening that I was there. The park is just a nice way to relax and spend some quality time with your family.
The fountain is fun in warm weather. The sun sphere is a must. It is free and awesome! Worlds Fair Park is a place to play frisbee on the lawn. Playground gets a lot of people during good weather though.
Lots of room for walking, pick nicking, bike riding, etc. There is also a playground for the little ones.
When staying across the street at the Cumberland house this park turned out to be a great spot for a morning run.
Nothing fancy, good to visit if your downtown or prior to catching hockey or football game. Small walk around the downtown area, can walk up to many location, near the Hilton Hotel.
Beautiful location to hang out with family, friends and pets! Our community has really made this a nice place to visit. The Sun Sphere is there too! This is a place you can't miss if you visit Knoxville!
Check it out - great walkways, waterfalls, trees, and events in the middle of the city. Nice place to get outside and enjoy a beautiful day.
A huge open park with beautiful scenery and the Sunsphere, World's Fair Park is a great place to go to play games, go on a picnic, take the kids, walk the dog, go jogging, visit the war memorial, or just go to view the sites!
World's Fair Park is a must visit! It is so peaceful and beautiful! I spend a lot of time walking around the pond and the water fountain area is a MUST! I loved going in the fountains when I was little and I still do! If you really want to see the park full, come during the 4th! It seems that all of Knoxville is stuffed into the park during the fireworks! It is a great place to relax and it is a safe place as well!
We were staying very near to the park at a conference, so it was wonderful to get out every night and just walk around the park. Being in November, it was very quiet, but I especially liked that. I'm sure it must be a great spot in the summer!
I read another review that dings this beautiful park because there isn't any readily available parking. Yes, the park is gorgeous and peaceful - springled with the delightful laughing of children playing in the fountains - but getting to see it is somewhat of a pain. There is public parking a few blocks away near the Museum of Art but, really, if you're looking for a quick visit its not very conducive. Aside from that though the park really is nice and a great complement to the Sunsphere.
What a great park. This was the perfect setting for a perfect proposal for my daughters fiancé to propose. With the gorgeous waterfall in the backdrop, it was simply beautiful.
We went for the day to Knoxville from Gatlinburg, but you can't park anywhere. I went in a mile long circle around the park, and everything is permit parking. The tow truck company had someone sitting there waiting for me to get out of the car to make $200+. The other enormous mistake I made is going on a Saturday when UT had a football game. A frat boy was standing on the corner with his brother giving cans of beer to every car that drove by. That was cool, but it felt more like I was stuck in NYC surrounded by a sea of orange people who wanted to make sure it took an hour to get out of those three city blocks.
We have a few favorite stops when we visit downtown. We love to take our boys (ages 2 & 12) to Fort Kid play ground, it is the coolest play ground around, and unlike any others! We love to have a picnic at the fountains while the kids play in the water, and always love going to observation deck inside the SunSphere!
