sweitzer lake state park

This is a small park. There is a lake that resembles a large reservoir. It has several picnic areas with tables and pits. You can swim in a designated area. Small boat can be put in the water but you will have to travel in a circle, only going on way. There are no places to get food and there is only one place to drop your boats on the water. We had a pontoon and it was fairly easy to put in the water. Must have inspections before entrance and again when leaving.

It's basically another reservoir made park... with very little to offer. it's your basic campground and boating reservoir. Can't keep the fish you catch and little to no activity (other than what Delta offers). I didn't spend a lot of time here.. but compare to the other parks in Colorado.. this one is pretty basic. fishing is poor at best and if the lake is low.. ouch.. what can you really do? I am not saying it's bad.. just basic.. very basic.

Sweitzer Lake State Park is not a gorgeous location with stunning views, but it is a nice place nonetheless. There are picnic tables, bathrooms, grass, and a pier. I see people water skiing from time to time. If I recall properly, there are BBQ grills next to the picnic tables. There is a swimming area which I think the locals must really enjoy during the summer time. No handicap parking, but the bathrooms have handicap access. There is a fee to enter.

We stopped at this nice little beach and park area with a nice view of the mountains in the background. The entrance fee is $7/day. The beach has picnic tables, fully functioning bathrooms, and park office. There is a swimmer area separated from the boats and was very relaxing. Glad we found this place on a hot Colorado day as it helped cool us down and get a tan!
