I'd never visited this area before - almost never noticed it. Very quiet, very nice. I'll be hiking these trails again!

Palmer Park is a fantastic place to take your dog for a run, or a nice hike. The views are breath taking and there is plenty of space to roam.

Go to the parking lot at the top of the mesa. There's a turnoff for an area called Lazy Land, the mesa parking lot is just beyond that. The well-marked trails on the top of the mesa are easy and you can have your dog(s) off-leash here. Great views of Colorado Springs, Pikes Peak and, in the distance, Garden of the Gods. Picnic tables are scattered around vista points. Depending on which trails you take, you'll hike a couple of miles out and back. Don't forget to pick up your dog poop!

This 730.2 acre park was donated to the City of Colorado Springs in 1907 by the city's founder, General William Jackson Palmer. Ball fields, playground equipment & fenced off leash dog parks are available on the southeast corner of the park. The remainder is a wide area of winding hiking & biking trails as well as small & large picnic grounds. The views from the top of the several bluff areas, also accessible by car, are outstanding. Another, more open, off leash dog area with numerous hiking/biking trails is also available in the park. A variety of wildlife lives in the park.

Wow. Whether you're hiking in Palmer Park or driving through on the paved roadway, it feels like you're in the wilderness...until you reach the look-out points and see the city surrounding you. Another free attraction that is well worth the time, just don't look for Palmer Park on Palmer Park Road...it's actually on the intersection of N. Academy Blvd and Maizeland.

Beautiful park in the middle of Colorado Springs with lots of parking and picnic areas. Maybe that is why it is always so busy.

We hiked for about an hour up to the overlook. Just beautiful. The runners and cyclists called out so we could get out of their way and although there was some snow on the ground, the walking and climbing was never dangerous.

Nice place to hike because it is right in city. Trails were well marked. Moderately challenging hikes.

Numerous hiking trails combined with a dog park offer something for dog and owner alike! The plateau which is centrally located gives great views of the surrounding area to include Pike's Peak and Colorado Springs. The playground for the kids is big and for safety it is fenced and has crushed rubber for padding, so it's really nice and safe!Being in the center of town this is really a great 'wild' place to get away too quickly.

Biking, hiking, trail runs, picnics, dog park...this place has everything to get out and about - and in the middle of town!

The original park was given to the city of Colorado Springs by its' founder, General William Palmer. It is a treasure of light colored sandstone formations. There are hiking and mountain biking trails through these hoodooish areas. The plateau has great views of Pikes Peak and a large area where well-behaved dogs can roam free while their owners enjoy the views. There is a great playground at the eastern edge of the park and a dog park nearby the playground (fenced in, parents can feel safe about this). Picnic tables are ever present and a group picnic area can be reserved as well.

We love to visit Palmer Park the mixture of developed and undeveloped space is great and the dog park is huge there. We always find something new to explore at the Park.

Miles of hiking and biking possibilities in this wonderful city park. Feel like you in a quiet, natural spot amidst the pines and rock formations! Seek this place out!

The view of the mountains from Palmer Park is spectacular. Since out hiking days are over, it was the perfect spot--right in Colorado Springs--to relax and read, though we probably did more looking than reading.
