Small museum, but the price of admission was fairly low. Too much emphasis on Ludlow, which is 70 miles away. Pueblo has plenty of interesting history of it's own without devoting roughly 1/3 of the museum to Ludlow. I personally would like to see more about pre-European history, the Charles Goodnight era, development of the steel industry, the distinctive ethnic groups and how they arrived there, architectural styles, Pueblo neighborhoods, etc. The one major artifact I remember was Zebulon Pike's sword. Museum is clean and modern; displays are professionally done. Gift shop offers books, etc. In the same building there is a Pueblo Visitor Center.
In Pueblo for business and had some time to research the history of the Pueblo area. This self guided history museum was well organized and had tons of information. I learned quite a bit about El Pueblo, including that Mother Jones came to the area and helped organize the miner families impacted by the Ludlow Massacre. The visitors' center has a great selection of free information for you during your stay in Pueblo.
I visited the Museum on a Thursday afternoon with some time to kill. The price was right for entry...only $5. They had a few exhibits that showed a great deal of history of the Pueblo and Southern Colorado areas. There were hands-on activities for kids and a large display of artifacts. I spent about an hour and enjoyed the visit. Although I've lived in Colorado over 11 years, there was a great deal that I was unaware of about the state's history and this was an enjoyable and relaxing place to become better educated.
This museum is small with good quality displays on local history for adults and hands-on exhibits for children. We found no notice that it would be closed on Mondays--but some volunteers were there for a meeting and they let us buy admission and come in. AAA rate given. In the building with the Pueblo Information center.
Not bad - I liked seeing the old tree and some of the exhibits. The museum had costumes and seems targeted to children, and I think they might like the somewhat interactive exhibits.
Museum bright & interesting. New facilities & friendly staff - exposed dig next to museum also intriguing
I went on a business lunch and it was yummy! We went to Franco's bistro. I had the nachos and they were yummy! They were a bit dry so i asked for sauce and that helped!
Sorry to say I don't know how to remove and replace the review I wrote for this under the Arts Center. Maybe someone at TripAdvisor can do it for me!!
Had some great exhibits, including a chuck wagon, a 400+ year-old tree, guns, and great interpretation information
