We stopped here on our way to crested butte and was pleasantly surprised. The place is small but very cool, lots of good things to look at. They don't actually do tours but the guy in charge heard us asking if they did one for us which was really great. They don't do free tasting but it's $7 for a flute of 4 tastings. I didn't love the gin or whiskey (personally a wino) but our friends did and bought a bottle. It'll be a regular stop for them from now on.
We swung by for my dad's 60th birthday and to try out a new distillery in my parent's new town. The mixologist/tender was great - served and talked up a great time. The drinks were wonderful, and their pricing was fair. We really enjoyed our time chatting and sipping wonderful beverages. Park close, and then walk around after you consume - don't drink and drive.
We were from out of town and stopped in for a quick drink before dinner. We were pleasantly surprised to find a place that distills gin and whiskey and makes homemade tonic. The woman behind the bar made us the best gin and tonics ever! Naturally we had to walk out of there with a bottle of gin.
had a wee dram of that beautiful, Young Scotch-like Whiskey, free!! at the bar and a Long talk with one of the owners about the Whiskey making with that beautiful old Heidelberg copper pot still.the other Salida experience
Wood's has that Colorado vibe that makes in-state residents proud to live here! The atmosphere is relaxed - open air, simple and modern. Dogs and drinkers lounge around in easy contentment. The drinks are creative and delicious and the bar tender was both friendly and knowledgeable about the drinks and offerings! It was hard to leave and I cannot wait to return!
Not only did we love the creativity of Wood's cocktails (who knew that a cocktail with Sriracha and whiskey could be so good?!), and the quality of their whiskey, we also loved the ambiance of the place. Exposed brick, garage door opening up to the sidewalk, plenty of comfortable seating, and an open view of the distillery in the back. We even got an impromptu tour of the space, followed by a tasting of a few of their whiskeys and gins.
Found this place while waiting for our reservations at Laughing Ladies down the street. Really fabulous little bar with their own liquor. Highly recommend for a drink or three before or after dinner. They had some non alcoholic stuff for our kids.
Everybody goes skiing/biking/snowmobiling whatever, but how many people tour a gin distillery in the Rocky Mountains ? This is a great find, right down the street from Salida's restaurants and art galleries, an easy stop after lunch or before dinner. Brothers PT and Lee Wood give you the tour, not only telling you the story of their handcrafted gin and whiskey, but you can buy a cocktail or even a flight of their award-winning potions at their tasting bar. Tours not offered every day, so can be a good idea to check ahead. My husband really got into the engineering and science of it, I was too busy asking for cocktail recipes. Definitely a fun find!
Great decor and awesome bar. When inside you can watch them distill the whiskey and gin. Real cool if your there the right day. The drinks were real fun. Bartender clipped the basil from the pots growing inside and drinks made from scratch were fun! Try the float of all 3 whiskeys.
