Great, informational tour. Learned a lot about how the product is made. Even got to try a sample! If you sign up online you can even be put in a lottery to help bottle! Make sure to make reservations for the tour! Must do in the area!
What a fun tour! I never really knew much about whiskey until visiting Stranahan's. It has really become a local fave in the bars! Not only did we get to tour basically the whole building, but also got to test and taste the whiskey, both cold and room temperature to see the different taste. And there is a bar where you can get drinks! Friendly staff and good educational tour!
We stopped in on a whim and got a great tour from Rebecca, an educational tasting, and then sat in the tasting room that has miraculous bartenders whipping up wonderful concoctions for you to try. This was a great experience and we will go again. By the way, Stanahan's is REALLY good!
OK, I've never heard of Stranahan Whiskey, but decided to go on the tour with some family members. It was a blast. We went on a guided tour and then was able to taste a few whiskies. It was actually quite decent. I'm not a whiskey connoisseur, however. This is a free tour and well worth the hour or so it takes to go through the tour and the tasting. We didn't buy a bottle of the Whiskey, but next time I'm in Denver, I will buy one. Brewed and distributed in Colorado.
I came here on a whim, looking for something unique to do in Denver and I was not disappointed. Everyone was so friendly on the tour, and our tour guide was hilarious (possibly because part of her job includes enjoying whiskey with the guests!).
We really enjoyed our tour guide Kristen on our recent visit, which turned out to be a private tour since there were no others signed up. She was personable and knowledgable with great stories to tell. Unlike some other distilleries where they just show you a slide show and keep you behind glass the whole time, we walked through the entire distillery, touching the equipment and talking with the employees. Obviously the tasting at the end was the highlight, with wonderfully smooth whiskey to sample. We picked out our own personallized bottle to bring home for under the Christmas tree and will fondly remember our time at Stranahan's every time we drink some.
This place is a gem in the Denver area. It maybe a small distillery, but it must be popular as there were people waiting outside the evening I visited for a release of a special whiskey the next morning(mind you it was in December and cold as well) Very friendly and knowledgeable staff which made the tour interesting to say the least. If you are in the area, I would recommend the free tour, which ends in a free whiskey tasting!
The tour is free, but although walk-ins are allowed for the tour, I recommend you register online to ensure you get the tour time you want. You need to be a minimum of 21 with a current I.D. The tour lasts about 45 minutes and you finish with a tasting of the whiskey. Our guide was funny and she guided us through the tasting making sure we tasted the various flavors within the whiskey.
I flew from Washington to Colorado for the 16th batch of snowflake. It is so yummy I am addicted! I have participated in the last 2 limited releases this was my third I'll come for everyone if I can
We had a great experience visiting Stranahan's. Our tour guide was really knowledgeable and funny throughout the tour and kept it interesting. We got to walk all through the production and storage areas and even learn about how they incorporate volunteer efforts in their packaging process. The history of Stranahan's was really cool to learn about, and the free tasting of really good whiskey made it all the more wonderful!
I am not a big whiskey drinker, so the sample was too intense for me to drink; however I did enjoy the tour of seeing how the whiskey is processed. Our group enjoyed it!
Let me give you an equation: Free Whiskey+Educational+Awesome staff+friendly+ funny+meet new people+local+FREE WHISKEY! = 5 STARSThe reviews for this place say it all. Book your reservation and enjoy a free tour of the Stranahans Whiskey Distillery. Learn about the process and get an inside look into the operation that wets the whistle of all us COLORADO COWBOYS (lol...it sounds cool at least) and before you part ways, enjoy a nice tasting with the group in which you have bonded and created life-lasting relationships with!
Good, informative, free tour about what it takes to make Colorado whiskey. Nice small distillery. Unlike most North American whiskeys that are made with mostly rye, this is an all barley whiskey. And it's surprisingly good. Very smooth. (And that's coming from a bourbon lover from KY!)You will see the distillery with the mash tanks and copper pots, pass by the bottling line and into the rickhouse. Tour ends in a quaint room for a comprehensive taste testing. There is an attached separate bar area at the distillery which of course features their whiskey. They had some interesting cocktails that sounded good but I did not have time to try them. The whiskey, as well as some typical gift shop items (t-shirts, glasses, etc), are available in the main lobby. This is what I call cryin' whiskey. It's really really good and I can't get it where I live. I'm from out of state and it's only sold in Colorado. Looking forward to when they make it big and start selling nationwide! :)
I've been on a few whiskey tours in my time but this one is the best. Free and with a complimentary whiskey at the end. Very unpretenious tour with a knowledgable guide. One of the few places to buy the whiskey.Highly recommended!
I'm not a huge whiskey fan, but I found this to be a fun and unique thing to do in Denver. It's proximity to Denver makes it a great option for visitors to the area and the tour is well worth the hour if you have any interest in learning about how whiskey is made and how Stranahan's is different. Would be fun for a big group, but it's not meant to be rowdy, more respectful to the process.
