We wandered into the Diamond Belle Saloon located in the historic Strater Hotel in Durango. There was a guy playing an old upright player piano taking requests from the audience. The waitresses were costumed like in the "Old Days" and readily posed for a photo upon request. Mixed drinks were very reasonable ($5 for Bacardi/coke and about the same for gin/tonic). This is a great place for an after dinner drink.
A saloon that truly reflects the Old West. It was like a trip back in time. The staff dressed in period costume is an excellent touch. A nice drink selection and overall a fun place.
Probabaly a victim of its own success, the bar and (free) live entertainment was great, but the food (some VERY good burgers) took a long time to arrive. If your not in a hurry and can get a seat highly recommended but if you're in a hurry perhaps you should try elsewhere.I'd definitely go back, if I got the timing right, highly recommended.
You can's go wrong. Affordable and delicious bar food. Service good even on a busy live band music night. Atmosphere Old West and interesting. Worth a visit any time.
Go early as Belle's is so popular that it fills up. Food was great. Had steak the first time followed by their signature burger the second time. Fills up fast, very popular. This is not a fast food restaurant, you are there to enjoy the atmosphere of the live piano player and the hussling and bustling of an old saloon. Food is worth the wait.
I loved the old saloon atmosphere. My friend and I had sandwiches with fries, which were very good. I would recommend Diamond Belle Saloon for the old west flavor.
This is part of the historic Strater Hotel in downtown Durango, CO. The place looks like a western saloon with a large bar, piano and player, and waitresses dressed in appropriate attire. There is a downstairs which is noisier than the upstairs with is small and rather cozy. They have some local microbrew beers and a plentiful selection of other spirits. We each order burgers of one sort or another and both were quite good. Absolutely recommended for a different type of restaurant, good and reasonably priced food, and attractive waitresses. Some of the male customers were having their pictures taken with the wait staff.
We stopped in for an early lunch. The place was not busy at all and our waiter could not have been more rude or disinterested in us if he tried. Made no effort to be even slightly friendly. The wait for our food was very long. I got the Diamond Burger with pancetta, some kind of creamy French cheese and an aioli mayo - it was absolutely bland and I was very disappointed. (I should point out that I am not, actually, a picky eater). Ambience was interesting, but we would not go back.
Our party of 3 children and 4 adults stopped at the Diamond Belle for lunch, around 1:30 in the afternoon. It took over an hour to get our food, even though we only ordered hamburgers and there were only a few other customers in the place at the time. I felt bad for our server, who kept refilling our drinks and running down to the kitchen to see about our order. After we had waited an hour+ for our food, they messed up our bill. Our 3 children had ordered off the kids' menu but were charged off the regular menu and we were charged for a drink we hadn't ordered. The cashier argued with us about our ticket and we had to ask for the children's menu to show him what the meals were supposed to include. Eating out shouldn't be work. I don't think this establishment is geared toward a daytime clientele.
Considering the prices elsewhere in Durango the Diamond belle is a fantastic choice. With several dishes ranging from $10-20 its hard to beat. The food is above average. We were there on a saturday night. There was live music and the place was pretty much full. The service was still fast. Great atmosphere and authentic wild west decor
My friend and I recently stopped on our road trip at the saloon for lunch. Our waiter was great, friendly, efficient, and the drinks were fantastic. So far, so good. After fifteen, almost twenty minutes of waiting for our food we were told by our waiter that our food wasn't coming because he gave us the wrong menu. He gave us another one and said that was our only options. The new menu consisted of cold items, pizza, and soup options. After ordering a burger and a reuben sandwich we were not happy about the chicken or egg salad choices. The waiter offered to take care of the drinks for us and spoke with the manager. She never came over, nor apologized. When I saw her in the hall I let her know that was a pretty awful thing to do to people who had been on the road for two hours and were hungry. She noted she paid for our drinks and offered us the other menu. Unfortunately I did not find this acceptable. Since it was their fault, they should have had the kitchen prepare our two meals as they were easy to make and the kitchen was open for the rest of the night.
OMG, the food was so good here. We each had a hamburger and oh, did it melt in your mouth! I would highly recommend anyone to eat here, plus, the atmosphere was so cool!
The kids will love it! I seen a smile on everyones face. The place packs up at gunfight time, but the folks working there were very nice people. We only stopped in for a couple of cold ones so I cant comment on the food, but the atmosphere was old west with music and costumed waitstaff. Go take a look at the hotel lobby-it's part of the Strater. Good photo ops.
We've been here several times and it's always friendly with great drinks and decent food. We were there on Friday night and the place was full but service was still very good.
Our family had the best time here and very tasty, reasonable food. We pulled in at 6:30 after a long day at Mesa Verde and they managed to get us in for the 7pm gunfight. We all got a kick out of that and the saloon girl costumes and atmosphere. To top it off, dinner for 3 kids and 4 adults (including beer) was $75--I didn't know that was even possible!!
