We went to the rec centre in Durango for a fun day out while staying in Pagosa (Aug 2014). We bought day passes which were a great deal and enjoyed the pool area immensely. They had family changing areas which is extremely helpful with little ones. There is a lazy/whirl pool, a shallow area with squirt/spray objects in the water, a little castle, a lap pool and 40 foot? slide that my 7 year old did repeatedly for at least an hour. We had a blast and wore out our children and went back to Pagosa after a picnic at the park. We would encourage anyone to try it out.

We received free passes from the Hampton Inn. What a great facility. The cardio area had so many machines that even when busy there was empty ones. They had a free weight section and then some pretty awesome weight machines. We went at 7:30 Am and it was quit busy. They have racket ball, basket ball courts. Lap pools and resistance pools. Even an area for the little ones. Rock climbing wall. Locker rooms with showers. I want to get my small town to open up a place like this!!!

Love the cleanliness and quality equipment. Can get a little busy right after work, but i usually don't have to wait very long for a treadmill. Off hours, the place is all mine. :) Friendly and helpful staff.

The two pools are wonderful. One for the kiddies and one for serious swimmers. And there is even a whirlpool. The gym has new exercise machines and plenty of stationary bikes and other aerobic machines. Good racquetball courts too.

Great facility. Swimming facilities are great for everyone... giant slide, kiddie props, lazy river, lap pool, therapy pool and whirl pool!!! Gym and equipment recently updated! Classes are taught by world class athlete instructors. It is, however, extremely crowded during certain hours, for instance 5pm on a winter evening. Don't even try to swim on a Saturday late morning. Also... the locker rooms can be a bit dirty because of the high use volume. Showers are disgusting as well as the floors at any hour.

The center was easy to get to - easy parking too. The inside was clean and well kept. We used the Racquetball Courts, they were well done. The locker rooms were big and clean and also kept up. Would love to go again.

An amazing place. Two large pools, one with a lazy river and waterside and the other with swimming lanes and diving boards. A large hot tub, climbing wall, exercise equipment and a track. Entry is open to everyone and the fees very reasonable. Locker rooms were very clean and convenient, and towels can be rented for $1.00. A great place to take the entire family.

This place is only 4.50 for the day for kids and has 2 pools, diving boards, play areas, and a climbing wall. The kids had a blast and it is a fun break from the local camping.

I love this place - two beautiful pools, one warmer than the other, lots of features for small children, a hot tub, great dressing rooms, exercise machines, a track, racquet ball courts, pool tables, meeting rooms, truly a well designed facility...Best to take out an annual pass if you'll use it more than a few times...Check out the back of the center to see the arena, the River Trail passes by the back as well...

This is not a water park. It's just a community pool. But it's the best I've ever seen and it's open all year. There's a LARGE water slide for the older kids and small ones for the little kids. A whirlpool area that the kids and adults loved. There are water guns, fountains and houses. And that's just one side of the pool. The other side has a lap pool and a 1 meter and 3 meter diving board and a rope swing. Lockers and showers were clean and convenient. And all this for $1.50 per person.

My wife and I and 2 grandkids went to the Community Rec Center, unlimited time (open to close if you want), for only like $14.00. Vending machines take quarters only, so you might want to pack a nice lunch. Lockers with locks are included. Family changing area, as well as men and women's changing areas. GREAT indoor slide, moving river, hot tub (very nice), lots of stuff for the kids to do. For the bucks, it was FANTASTIC !

We were camping in Mancos State Park, which didn't have running water so when our kids needed to be cleaned up, we took them to this rec center to play in the pool and take showers! Our kids are 10, 8 and 5 and there was something for all of them at this pool -- slides, lazy river, play for our 5 year old and an outdoor splash feature.

This place has a wonderful water slide and children's area for swimming, as well as diving boards and lap swimming. Provided hours of entertainment for my 6 year old. Nice locker facilities too.

My family and I visited while on vacation. My children are 6 and 9. We intermingled our touristy adventures with two trips to the rec center. The exterior is very well maintained with a nice playscape. The interior of the building is clean and inviting. The price for an entire family is a little expensive at about $20 for the four of us. There were reduced price punch cards, but they started at 20 punches. So, vacationers will be paying the higher price. They rent towels for $1 and thankfully we brought our own. They also have locks, for rent I imagine, but we brought our own. The first day, my kids tried the climbing wall and we played basketball for about 3 minutes. We briefly watched some racquetball players and looked upstairs to see the track. I saw some bikes and assume there are other workout machines up there. My kids' main purpose was to get into the pool. The locker rooms were clean and the lockers were large. Upon entering the pool, my kids were in heaven. They immediately headed for the large, waterpark style, multiloop slide. My kids spent the majority of their 3 hours on the slide. The end of the slide was pretty shallow and even shorter kids could touch. While the rules said one person per slide, I saw many very small children coming down in an adult's lap. There was a large shallow area for young kids. It had lots of fun stations for the kids- castle, frog slide for little ones, squirt guns, and squirty stationary things for kids to climb on. I think this part was about 2 feet deep. I saw many little children and babies in this area. There was a lazy river type attraction that was probably 3.5 to 4ft deep. In the middle of the river and separated by a wall was a whirlpool. Second to the slide, my kids spent lots of time in here. There was also a hot tub. Next to all of these areas was a 3 lane lap area. I mainly saw water aerobics going on over there. In another area of the pool were 2 diving boards (high and low) with deep water. At the end of this was a shallower end (3.5 or 4 feet). There were many lap lanes next to this where swim teams appeared to be practicing. There was a splash pad outside, but the water coming out was so cold that my kids left after a few seconds. I'm sure it warms up as the summer progresses.Inside the pool there are lots of plastic chairs and benches. Just stake your claim. We kept hearing a noise that we thought was someone releasing the kraken. Turns out it was a swimsuit water extractor. The lifeguards seemed friendly and all business. On our second trip, we paid for our kids only because we were just going to watch them and not get into the pool. I wish we knew this was a option on our first day because my husband and I did not swim that day either. This is such a great place and quite a gem for Durango.
