Spring Canyon Park is a highlight of the extensive natural resource locations in Fort Collins. Featuring a walking paths, access to natural areas, and a all-access playground, it is a popular location for the entire year.
We love walking our dog here. There is an awesome dog park with a water feature in warm weather, paved and unpaved paths to walk, and plenty of places to sit and take in the awesome scenery.
This park has something for everyone. Ball fields, picnic shelters , nice bathrooms. Dog park with water feature, lots of rolling grass to play on and access to great bike and walking trails
Great place for birthday parties. All rec sports events play there at one time or another. There is a skateboard course. There are nice bike paths that connect to Fort Collins and to mountain bike paths. There is a water park on the Horsetooth side that little guys love. There is a play park next to that. And even a park for Fido across the parking lot. It's a huge park and your imagination is your only limitation!
This is THE best large park in FoCo, hands down. There's an area designed for the tykes as well as the older kids. Lots of open space and even a small water feature to play in.
We stopped here on a long road trip to stretch out and get some fresh air. We walked along a gravel trail for about a mile and caught a glimpse of the reservoir (the trails go much further but the kids wanted to turn around). We saw people playing kickball, flying model airplanes, and though we don't have a dog, we enjoyed watching them play in their fenced area. There's a divider separating one area to run around, and another with a pond for them to swim in! There's a skate park and tennis courts. We went over to the playground and I must say it is one if the biggest, nicest playgrounds we have been to. There are small trees that aren't big enough to shade, but many parts of the structure have awnings to shade too. There are " rocks" to climb on with a slide going through the rocks, and the whole playground has spongy squishy stuff underneath which is great if little ones fall. The splash pad looked fun, wish we had more time to play. My boys (6 & 8) thought it was great. Glad we stopped here. Ft Collins is nice.
I read a few of the reviews and felt compelled to post. Spring Canyon Park is a nice park. It isn't Disneyland, it's a nice park. In the summer there is a water park area that's wonderful for kids to play in. There is a playground for bigger kids and one for little kids. On exceptionally hot days in the afternoon, it's true there isn't enough shade and the playground equipment gets hot, but that's a great time to play in the water or run around and play ball in the fields next to the playground. There is a dog park nearby, baseball diamonds, fields, trails in the foothills and the paved Sping Creek trail (that connects to other trails that go all over town). Beyond the fields to the northwest is another smaller park, Cottonwood Glen, with more shade, a pond and easy access to trails. To get Spring Canyon park, drive to the west end of Horsetooth Rd.
This is a little hard to find and connects to several trails so I thought it would be a nice place for a dog walk. It was okay but not spectacular for being so close to water and the mountains. We wandered on part of Spring Creek Trail and were surprised to see horses living so close to the trail. The creek itself is small so not so much water along the trail. Friendly people along the trail.
My grandchildren found this to be memorable as the worst park they went to on a lengthy road trip. Signage was awful, but once we found the place, the playground was deserted and shadeless (on a day in the 90s), and the equipment was far less imaginative than nearly every other playground that we went to. The kids walked for a while on the trails and then asked to go into the car to anyplace else. They literally could not play on the overly heated equipment. I can see why dog-owners, adult runners, and bikers like the park but for young children it is a disaster. Take them to Martinez Park instead.
The scenery is awesome, it's right at the foot of the mountains, is an awesome place for families. The playground is fun, the splash yard thingy is awesome. My daughter had a blast. Can't wait to go again!
I love this park. There's something for everyone! Concrete path connects to bike path that goes for miles, or hop onto the dirt trail to the west that takes you through the Pine Ridge Natural Area, where you'll compete for trail space with dozens of other runners, walkers and mountain bikers (the big loop is about 5 miles). To the east is a water spray park for the kids, plus large playground and covered structures. Many tennis courts and bathroom options. We love to take our dogs there, because of the large fenced dog area with water and an adjacent dog area with a large pond in the middle for the dogs to play in.
While all of Fort Collins parks are great, especially City Park, Spring Canyon remains my favorite. Not only does it have great views but is walkable and there are not a lot of scheduled activities leaving it open and very accesible.
This park has shooting water for the kids to play in during the summer next to the playground. There is also a dog park there & tons of trails to run if you want to do that!
This park has it all. A great dog park, 2 different playgrounds for kids, baseball fields, volleyball nets, basketball courts, tennis courts, many pavilions for parties and picnics, bike and walking trails, a small pond for fishing, beautiful views of the foothills, lots of trees, and bathrooms. The park is always clean and is among our favorite place in town to go!
nestled just at the edge of the foothills, on the bike path and at the end of the road, park offers something for everyone, from the very young to the older, but young at heart.shaded playground which incorporates native american legends in its play area, ball field, picnic areas, shelters, and lots of view of the foothills. interactive water feature (timed 'fountains'), also handicap accessible. very popular for a reason--- and has a dog park enclosure as well! horse trail and trailer parking available. horse trail connects to trail into the foothills.
