Went their for assistance with my grandson during a heavy rain. Tried to take cover under canopy until they opened in 10 minutes. Worker came out and told us to move. Would not let us inside under cover. Very rude, out of control!
I do feel the need to respond to this comment, because here at Chic's, we do try to cater to our customers to the best of our ability. If a customer has any problems or questions, we welcome them to bring it to our attention at that time, so we can discuss and solve any issues for that customer, or any future renters. This specific customer rented a boat from us at Chic's for a 3 day rental. We do not advertise any discounts for the offseason, but if a customer comes in and asks if we would do a discount since it is not our busy time of year, we generally will honor a 10% discount. Nothing was said at the time of this rental, or even on his return from the rental when he checked the boat in. This customer did not call to ask about a discount until a few days after he had returned from his boating trip. Once I received the message, I did call back the next day to speak with him, and had to leave a message because there was no answer. When we did end up speaking, I apologized for the miscommunication, and offered him a 10% discount on any future rental-for use any time, on any type of rental, including in season (Memorial Day-Labor Day).
Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. At little expensive but everyone had a good time. The boat was in good working order and was clean and safe. Mark knew how to explain to everyone the proper procedures for the sport. Thanks
We rented a boat for 2 nights while we went camping on Burgess Island in Lake George. They gave my father-in-law the impression that the boat would hold 10 people. When we got there, they said it could legally hold six. Since there were 8 of us, 4 being children ages 2,4,5, and 8, this was a problem. They also told us it would be a 45 minute trip to our island. So my father-in-law, all the kids, and I got in the boat with all our gear and supplies, while my husband and brother-in-law waited for their dad to come back and get us after he dropped me off at the island with the kids. While the staff was extremely nice, I thought the run-down of how to drive the boat was a bit fast for my city-born FIL. I was the designated navigator, but the map they gave us was so bad, I was mostly guessing what unmarked blobs corresponded to what land masses. I did an ok job, but the ride was 2 hours. Not 45 minutes. Maybe if we didn't have 4 kids in the boat we would've sped through the Lake faster? Now that I've gotten the complaints out of the way, I will once again say that the staff was exceptionally nice. We had a lovely time. And they didn't charge much for the damage my FIL did to the outboard motor! I have virtually no experience with marinas to contrast this with. I would just advise that if you're renting here for a camping trip, get a firmer grasp on the geography of the place first. Get a good map, and make sure you know the distances beforehand.
We visited here a couple days ago. My husband and son went out on the jetskis. Had to wait about an hour since it was a little crowded, being around noon time when we arrived. A guide leads the group out of the marina area and then they were allowed to go pretty much where they wanted, with the guides staying out there to make sure nobody got into trouble. My daughter and son-in-law went parasailing. They loved it. Only drawback was that you had to pay an extra $5 beforehand if you wanted to be dipped, and we didn't know that. Prices are a little high ($80 per person for both activities) but average for the area. Family had such a great time it was worth the money.
Definitely will be my go-to place for a boat rental on our next trip to Lake George! This place has its act together. Was our first time renting and we were worried about getting a decent boat on a nice day (since first-come, first-serve is the area-wide policy for hourly rentals and we heard that people line up first thing in the a.m. for boats.)Of all the marinas we checked out, Chic's had the most boats and best quality. Only a short wait in line and we were getting set up with an 18' foot 90hp outboard. Check-in and check-out was easy and the dock staff was great. Desk staff was great too- friendly and informative as others have mentioned here. Our three-hour rental on the lake made our trip! Chic's is a quality place- definitely worth the short drive outside of LG Village. Highly recommend!
About 3 years ago we rented a boat at Chics for a half day and although we were unfamiliar with the lake they were friendly and informative and we had a great day on the water. This year we wanted to parasail and play on waverunners so we decided to go with Chics again. There are places in LG village but not having experience we thought we'd rather go with a company that was sure to do things the right way & with proper safety precautions. so off we went.On my son's 15th birthday we rented waverunners. They fitted us with life jackets, showed us how to use the machine, and then waited until they had about 6 riders (or more) to escort the group of us out to an area in the lake that doesn't have too much boat traffic (there's boat traffic everywhere but this is away from the various hotels and marinas). There are two guys on waverunners - one each at the front and back of the "procession" and they keep an eye on all of the waverrunner-riders. Once we get out there they showed us the parameters that we needed to stay in (a huge area probaby 2 miles in one direction and 1.5 the other way) and kept an eye on us. When someone got dumped off their machine they'd be there to offer help and give guidance to get back on. It was great fun and nice to know they were nearby in case things got hairy. But it never did. It was a lot of fun!Two days later on my daughter's birthday we came back to Chics to parasail. They do charge for those in the boat who are observers (my husband and I weren't parasailing - the kids were) but since it's space taken up that they can't use for another person, I get it. We picked up another family at the Sagamore Hotel - two of their party of four also were parasailing. The guy driving the boat was a mature man (50's?), looks like someone who's been on the lake all his life (reassurring) and the young man who hooked up the harnesses & parasail was a recent college graduate, nice young man, responsible, etc. The kids were flown all around the lake, over a few islands, etc. They had a fabulous time and as parents we felt confident that they knew what they were doing. It's not cheap - but it was awesome!
We parasailed and jetskied here and also had great lunch next door. The whole experience was awesome! The staff at the Marina was unbelievable!!!!!!
My friend and I took our two boys (both 15) to Lake George this past weekend for a couple of days of relaxation, boating and fishing. We reserved a 19' Carolina Skiff with a 115 HP Merc. for a full day on Saturday. Everything went very smoothly. The staff was friendly and accommodating, our boat was ready and waiting for us when we arrived at 9am and we had a great day on the lake. The boat was very nice, very clean, performed very well and really moved. When we returned to the marina just before 5pm, one of the dock mates came aboard and took us to the dock. No hassles. Just a fun time. I would recommend Chic's Marina to anyone who wants to spend some time seeing Lake George from a boat. They have a number of different types and sizes of boats to choose from and are conveniently located in Bolton Landing right on 9N.
This was our high point of our Lake George trip. Of all the other rip off boat rentals Chics marina is like an oasis in a desert. Very reasonable rates, great choice of boats, very easy operations. We tool the small boat for 2 people for one hour and it was a great experience.
The staff here are all very polite and attentive. I especially appreciate how respectfully they handle your property (boat) when getting gas or service. I enjoy doing business with them.
The very nice people at Chic's Marina rented my family a large houseboat with a 115-hp engine for a 4 hour rental on Lake George. They went out of their way to accommodate us for a boat rental early in the 2014 season. The boat was clean and wiped dry of any remaining dew prior to us boarding. The dock hand reviewed how to operate the controls and also provided us with assistance in boarding and un-boarding at the dock. The boat performed perfectly and we had a great time viewing the lake, many islands, campsites, and several incredible lakefront properties. I’d highly recommend Chic’s Marina because of their courteous and friendly service and large supply of well-maintained boats to choose from.
My husband and I wanted to get out on the lake and look around a bit so we went to Chic's marina at the suggestion of our hotel. Once we got there an employee showed us several boat rental options and suggested a 90hp Boston Whaler, telling us that previous renters that day had mentioned that the windy conditions had mad the lake a bit choppy. Hearing that we agreed that the larger Boston Whaler was a good idea and signed up for an hour rental. We wish we could have gone out longer but it was late in the day and they close at 5. Our Boat was clean and well maintained. We were given a clear and easy to understand lesson on how to use the boat and where we might like to go once we hit the open water. We had a ton of fun exploring and even had a picnic lunch in the middle of the lake.
I rented a 12 person pontoon boat for a long weekend and everything was great. No problems with the boat, great service in getting us going from the dock, and very reasonable prices.
We had a great time! We did the wave runners, parasailing, and banana boating. Although we spent $300 there (for all the activities combined), it was worth it! The guides are friendly and helpful. They offered to take pictures for us while we were in the air or on the banana boat. We now have beautiful pictures!!! We got our full time slot even when we were the only two on that tour. I would definitely come back for the wave runners but I think the parasailing is too expensive.
