high falls park

had trailer there years ago after having searched all campsites in the area throughout upstate NY..this is the most beautiful most private most friendly site there is !

Wow !!! I just went to High Falls Park near Malone, NY and was amazed !!! I never new about this massive and incredible water fall. You basically walk down a stair case to the bottom of a chasm and " Wham" !!! You are hit with this unbelievable site. You wind up right at the bottom of what looks like a 100 foot water fall coming out of a rock wall. It looks like your in some jungle in Columbia. You can actually swim or walk right up to the falls. There is a large seating are built out of wood ( great for a picnic ). The falls are mesmerizing. You can stand there for an hour and won't get bored. You can take the 253 step stair case back up or you can take a very nice hiking trail along the river back up to the top. The staff is really nice and polite. The grounds and main building are in great condition. There is a lerge camping area, volley ball, horse shoe, pool, and other stuff. The main building has a good restaurant with fast food and ice cream. Food is really good. Campsite looked busy and the campers looked very happy and they were really nice. The fee to hike and see the water fall was only $2 It's an incredible deal. Take your kids. They will love it. This place is only 1 hour from Montreal and about 1 1/2 from Ottawa. It's well worth the drive to see this natural wonder.

I have always loved going to see the falls when I was young and had not gone back for years ... On our way back from camping in Lake George we decided to stop in to see the falls and were pleasantly surprise to find that they had such a nice campground with large serviced lots and mature trees.....it doesn't have a lot of amenities but it does have a small convenience store ( set of washer & dryer older appliances) showers and campfire wood available for purchase We ended up staying over night and So glad we decided to stop in ... We will be back this summer
