The cider costs twice what you'd pay at the supermarket, but it's SO worth it! When my son visits us at Thanksgiving, I head straight for the Cider Mill to stock up on the favorites he grew up on,including the marvelous nectar-like cider, the yummy cookies, and, OMG, the FUDGE. We like the chocolate peppermint fudge, but the array of choices is dazzling.Parking can be a bit of a pain when the crowds arrive, although there is a big car park across the road. Check out the amusingly specific parking signs around the original, smaller car park.LOVE the pond and the noisy ducks and geese. LOVE the festive little kitchen tools and salt and pepper shakers that you can buy as fun giftsLOVE, LOVE, LOVE, the million sampling choices on the main floor. Start at the door and do the whole loop, detouring into the pie room en route. If you enjoy dipping pretzels into dips and preserves and Barbecue sauces that will blow your tiny mind, the Cider Mill is a must-visit!
It is a fun place to shop. There is everything from Cider Beer, wine, cheese & of course cider. Plus there are lots of eats and treats in the sampling area. Upstairs there is a wealth of shopping. It is a great place!
Love their cider (only cider I will drink). I grew up on it and every visit home we stop at the Cider Mill if they are open. We always get 2 gallons of cider and other treats (many only found at the Cider Mill). This is a must do especially during the Pressing season (fall) to watch the old fashioned pressing process with explanations.
We’ve been to the Fly Creek Cider Mill & Orchard many times for the last nine years and have never been disappointed. Our family has really enjoyed sampling some great products during our visit, so you get to try-before-you-buy. Also the staff are very helpful in offering recipe ideas for using the delicious products. Fall is a special time to visit because you can watch the historic apple press making their wonderful cider and you can get a free sample. It’s a real favorite of mine. All their apples come from New York, and don’t forget to get the yummy aged cheddar cheese to go with your fresh apples. It’s been our go-to-place for apple pies and cookies when we have company. Don’t miss the snack barn next door and a free sample of their cider slush. Your kids will love feeding the array of ducks and geese on their pond. It’s a special, very family - friendly place!!
Shocked by the prices on EVERYTHING - $8 for a gallon of cider (and the cider tasted like apple juice), $4 for a small jar of apple butter (say, 8 oz?) and all of the "hand-made" crafts appear to have been made in China. The various jams, jellies, and sauces sold from the place were all imported from elsewhere, and it was hard to determine if they made anything themselves. Visit, eat their samples, but don;t buy anything (unless you want to waste your money). Located several miles outside of Cooperstown - a waste of gas, and not worth the trip
This place was great fun. We were at the baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown and just came across this place while we were looking for a place to have lunch. We got in a line of other customers sampling the products and ended up filling two grocery bags. Their hot apple salsa was excellent!
We were a pretty wet and weary bus group when we arrived at the Mill. A staff member or the owner came onto our bus and greeted us heartily. All of the ladies needed a dash to the restrooms which was quite a long ways form everything. That's my only negative. Anyway. . . We got box lunches that had been prepared foe us. Yum, yum! A heartily hunch with thick sandwich, chips, fruit, pie and fresh cider and in such a cute box with gingham! Nice! The Mill has a fantastic fro tier village and presentation to walk through and then comes the shopping!!! Oh my!! Such a delightful, country store with fresh cider and jams, dips and all kinds of things to sample!! They sell food, purses, kitchen things, books. . . Lots of unique and useful items. The people were very friendly! They had lots of umbrellas to lend us as we got back on the box. This place as 150% better than I thought it would be. . . A delightful surprise. I would love to go back!!
Every year I head up north for a visit, this is one of my favorite places. Sampling their products is so much fun and I really get to see what I like and want to take back on the plane with me. They do have an online store which is wonderful, but BEING THERE is the best. They have many events and the apple/cider press is really interesting (and it smells SO good). It's fun to feed the ducks & geese and wander around outside as well as inside. There's also a snack bar which has quite a few items including hot and cold sandwiches, soups, donuts, ice cream and more. And don't forget the apples, especially in October! The entire place smells like apple pie! It gets VERY, VERY busy on weekends and holidays, so if you can, try to find an "off" time to go so that you can really enjoy it. Everyone that works there is so friendly - they get the WOW FACTOR Award! Take the kids, take the family and have a great day.
We had a good time here. Lots of samples, food, cider, hard cider, wine. The fudge is delicious. I bought a pound and a half. Delicious cider, I bought a gallon. Hard cider is good, lots of apples to buy. My granddaughter liked feeding the ducks. I didn't eat there but there is food other than samples. Not just apples and cider. Lots of gift items. Next time I am in NY, I will visit again.
Don't let the name fool you, Fly Creek is not just about cider, although the old cider press is quite an attraction also. Samples galore, just about everything is available for a taste and it is all so so good. They have a lot of unique items for sale in addition to the food. It is also fun to walk around the outside, with a pond in back with a lot of ducks and geese, rocking chairs in the front to sit and relax, and plenty of those colorful photo cutouts, which everyone seem to enjoy for a silly photo. The snack bar is also very good, our gang enjoyed the soup in a bowl, the pulled pork sandwich, and the apple dumpling. Yumm! One caution - a Saturday in October can be very busy here, with a line out the door. It's a great place to visit!
Fun place for kids to see the live animals, ducks, chickens and geese. Apple press demonstration is interesting. Samples of foods galore to try!
This is an amazing place and it sells just about everything from apples to salad dressing. Since I have a strict diet that eliminates sugar, flour, white potatoes and sweets, I thought stopping here was more for my wife. Everything that we bought, we tried first at all their tasting stations. This place has many items that are gluten free. We bought the pretzels, apples, sauce and salad dressing. We even took a picture of ourselves in the figures at the entrance. Once a kid, always a kid. You are only as old as you feel. Even with inclement weather in late October and a weekday, we had a excellent time and plan to return next year on our annual trek to Lake Otsego and Cooperstown.
It was a a lot of fun looking around this place. Sadly it was raining so we didn't enjoy it as much as we could have. The brisket sandwich was delicious. Employees very friendly and so helpful.
Watch cider being made and enjoy thousands of products that all have a cider theme. We love to just hang and feed the ducks!
I love this place! Everything about it is great. There's been a line to get into the store each time I have been, but it's a quick wait and totally worth it. There are so many yummy things inside to sample - and buy. Even wine! It's very family friendly and there are a few festivals in the Fall that are worth checking it. If you're in Cooperstown visiting the Baseball Hall of Fame you must take the quick ride to Fly Creek Cider Mill! You will not be disappointed.
