Wide variety of chocolates. Homemade, melt-in-your-mouth kind, absolutely delicious! Store hours do vary depending on the Holidays. Friendly staff. You wouldn't be disappointed if you stopped.

I LOVE chocolate. This is the best in the world. LOL!! Its always yummy & fresh. The prices keep going up every year, but so is everything. My husband always get me the "Big" chocolate heart for Valentine's Day. I hide it from everyone. I would recommend trying this. You wont be disappointed!

I grew up on Lucas and moved away about 10 years ago. I was in New York over the holidays and stepped back inside the store I knew as a kid and smelled the chocolate I remember smelling as a child. It brought back so many fond memories of the Lucas family. I could not BELIEVE it when the owner Nick Lucas told me that they had recently been on the TODAY Show and featured in Forbes magazine and Rachael Ray. When I was little it was like the little local candy store. Then I tried the PMS candy bar, which they didn't have when I was a kid, and OMG it's amazing. They also have these Gobs, they're soft marshmallows dipped in caramel and then dark and milk chocolate. They have new candy bars and my favorite clusters, OH OH OH and the chocolate covered pretzels, TO DIE FOR PEOPLE!!! If you are in Haverstraw, NY or on the East Coast just take the time to go to Lucas Candies. The store is very simple and not fancy, in fact it is like it was 40 years ago, even the original cash register from the 1800's is there, it is UNBELIEVABLE. There's just no place like it. Candy stores like this just do not exist in America today, they are older than Hershey's and their chocolate is one thousand times better. Make a pilgrimage to Lucas before you die!

Lucas Candies is so good, it's dangerous. If you have not tried Lucas, you have not had the best chocolate in the world. This little company is located in Haverstraw, New York, along the Hudson. It's an old fashioned candy store dating back to the late 1800's, older than Hershey's if you can believe that. The original family is still running it and they also sell their chocolate online. I learned about them on the TODAY Show, then read an article about them in Forbes. When I ordered the famous PMS candy bar and Gobs, I was hooked. The dark chocolate is amazing, very dense and thick and rich. The milk chocolate is very rich too, both very sweet. They also have this new candy bar called Gone Bananas, it has this peanut butter and marshmallow center with dried bananas in milk chocolate. My mother loves the In Therapy candy bar, which is dark chocolate with cookie bits and a thick layer of caramel in the center. I mean to tell you, this is the best chocolate I have ever tasted. I have to be careful though, it's addictive and goes straight to the thighs. SO PACE YOURSELF!!!

I love going into this store! The staff is friendly and colorful, the store has been around longer than Hershey's, and the chocolate is AMAZING! It's seriously addictive, especially the PMS bars and the gobs. This is a family-run chocolate store still run and operated by the same family. Beautiful logo too!

I got my usual box of chocolate covered hand dipped strawberries, as I do every Valentines Day. As usual they were ready for pickup when i arrived and tasted yummy!! A great gift for both of us.

This shop is family owned and has been in Haverstraw for many decades. The chocolates are very good, and, at holidays the classic molds and shapes are really special.

We have informed our customers on Facebook, Online and via phone message that Lucas Candies is closed, Monday, Tuesday every week, and also closed in June thru August. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you have encountered.As for the lack of imagination on our product, I am quite shocked by this as every year we add new designs, molds, and as much creativity we can. The recipe HAS NOT CHANGED, in the 119 years we have been in business. There is absolutely no substitutions, or added flavoring. We would love for you to give us another try.
